Thank goodness

CHAPTER 13.

I heard my name again and it sounded like it came from the farthest right hallway. I made a run for it. Ignoring the probable booby traps.

I came to its end and saw three doors with inscriptions that looked familiar but I couldn't read it. What was this, a game? I thought to myself. I went through the door in the middle. You'd be surprised that it led to a pool with a beautiful garden. It was beautiful. I lost myself in luxury. I saw another door, just across the pool. First idea, swim across. Next, just turn back. I looked round and saw a hedge of flowers and went Towards it, hoping I could go over it and to somewhere else. I moved a bit and was grabbed and pulled behind a pillar.

"I've been looking for you this place over" it was Ogbuefi. "You're very important to this, you just can't start by dying on us." At that moment, I felt a lot safer and asked how he escaped.
"Well, we were in the tunnels we found and there was an explosion and I got seperated from my team and found my way here."

"How did you know I was going to be here?"

He hesitated and answered

"I didn't... Now, across that hedge is our ticket home but we can't get across, not without a bridge. So, you're gonna build one, with metals from the earth and your body."

"Metals from the earth?!"

"Yeah, put your hands on the ground and feel the Metals combine with your own metal and direct it all out of the ground and across the pool forming a bridge. Do it now... I believe in you." Cue the dramatic music and slow motion as I walk out from behind the pillar and put my hands on the ground.

"Arrrrrrgh!!! Cant we just swim across?"

"No, the water is electrified."

Figures. I tried this time with a lot of concentration and soon, a structure materialised from the ground up and gently over the pool. I got Ogbuefi and we quickly made our way across. Over the hedge were the woods and we ran through.

"...and that's how we got away" I said to Danny whose eyes were wide open in excitement. (Of course I tweaked the story a wee bit) "the deaths of those men are seriously disturbing me." I said with a sigh.

"Those were soldiers, they signed up for things like this. Sacrifice for the greater good." Replied Danny trying to comfort me.

"Sometimes, I wish I didn't have these powers"

"But you do. With great power--"

"Comes great responsibility... I've seen spiderman too" I said resting my head on the table.

''You had him in your sights today, you didn't make the move. Why?"

"He needs to be at full potential for the extraction to be meaningful"

"Whatever. His parents killed mine. I have to avenge them."
