CHAPTER 14.

From Danny's, I left for the DUA to further briefing. Mr. Tolu was really furious at me but I know secretly, he was proud of me, though surprised.

"Who authorised you to join that mission?" He said giving me chills. He was always a really nice guy but when serious, the dude got issues. "What if you'd been killed, captured or even worse?" I tried to speak and he rebuked me and sent me away.

I went to my room and began to ponder. Why does everyone say get killed or worse? Whatever, I just needed more training. I went in search of my handler and apparently, he had left for whatever he left for. I decided to help myself then.
I went to the training room and put on the simulations and trained. With every attack, I remembered the tragedy I witnessed on the mission. I was done for the day. I'm leaving.

I had already made up my mind that there's no way my mum is gonna find out bout this. She already had a lot on her plate and me rushing head on towards danger without training was not something to be added.
Apparently, she was back from work cause the door was unlocked. I saw a bottle of Andre on the table and a cup half full. Stress drinking again? Well, this kid was hungry. So, I decided to fix myself a sandwich. I went to the kitchen and what I saw wasn't something I should've seen. This sight will haunt me for the rest of my life.
I saw the lifeless body of my mother on the ground. Salt spilled all over the place, broken glass cup and water all over the place. I rushed at her.

"Mum? Can you hear me?" I asked shaking her violently with tears in my eyes, I didn't want to believe what I saw. "Mum? Please wake up, I have no one else, please" At this point I was emotionally dead and my mind was filled with so much pain...too much pain. I wept seriously.

I heard a knock and soon, footsteps. Behold, Ogbuefi appeared.

"What happened?"

I explained all of it to him and he alerted the DUA. In moments they were there. CSI, detectives, the works. Some guys tried to pull me away from her but, I protested bitterly. They were stronger of course and quickly over powered me and put me in the van. Soon I lost sight of the house.
In the van sobbing, I noticed I'd ripped my clothes with metals coming outta my body. I didn't care. It was there that I decided to focus more, practice more until I can avenge the death of my mother.

Dedicated to all those who've lost a parent.
