Chapter 28

Kate's POV

After I was examined and it was confirmed that my ribs were in fact broken and bruised, I fell asleep. I hadn't woken up until it was already dark outside judging by the darkness coming through the window.

It was dark in my room besides the little lamp next to my bed. I see a big lump in the far right corner with cute, little snores coming from it. Once my eyes adjusted to the dark, I made out that the lump was actually Louis. I can't believe he slept here with me.

"Louis." I croaked. I was so parched that I lost my voice.

"Louis!" I tried again louder this time. He still didn't here me. I took one of my pillows and threw it as hard as I could at him without hurting my ribs. It flew through the air for about a second and fell two feet away from me. I looked around for anything that could wake him up and my eyes landed on the lamp. Without thinking I pushed the lamp off the table and it landed on the floor with a huge crash. Louis didn't even stir in his sleep making me sigh.

I swallowed as many times as I could to moisten my throat and let out a shrill scream. Louis, obviously startled, flailed around in the chair screaming and fell on the floor.

"What's wrong!" He yelled and looked around the room for any sign of danger. Just then the nurse bursted through the door frantically asking what is going on.

"Oh sorry I just got scared." I lied and bit my lip.

"Scared of what?" She asked panting.

"Um...a spider?" I said as if it was a question.

Later, she left but not before cleaning up the broken glass from the lamp and replacing the bulb. Boy did I have fun trying to explain that.

"So why did you really scream?" Louis asked smirking sitting at the end if the bed with my feet in his lap.

"Well I was trying to wake you up and the only thing that worked was me screaming." I shrugged simply. He chuckled and began rubbing my feet and man did it feel good.

"So how do you feel?" He asked timidly, continuing to massage my foot.

"I feel fine. A little sore but nothing unbearable." I say and lean back against my pillows admiring him.

"Niall really feels bad about hurting you. He kept begging to see you and apologize." He informed me and I chuckled.

"Really it's fine it was just an accident." I smiled. We spent another dive minutes in silence and I was in pure bliss. I tried shifting to the side to make room for him to lay down too.

"Babe, you are not supposed to be moving while your ribs are healing." He scolded me.

"But I want you to lay with me." I pouted. He sighed and scooted up to lay down with me. I lay my head on his chest while he had his arm around me.

"I love you." I told him and meant it. I don't know why it took me this long to realize it. I felt his heartbeat speed up at my words and smiled.

"I love you to the moon and back." He said and kissed my head. It felt so nice to lay here with him. After all that's happened we didn't really have time for just us and not worry or get interrupted by the others.

"Do you think we'll last?" I ask and look up at him. He sighs and rubs my back.

"I don't know, love. I mean I could say 'of course we will because I love you' but who really knows? All I know is that I want to be with you as long as I can and as long as you'll have me." he answers and I sit up, ignoring the slight pain in my ribs.

"Babe-"

"I know! I know." I exclaim. I faced him and held his hand in mine.

"I want to have you for a long time, Louis. I don't know what it is but you make me feel different. A good different. When I was with Sawyer, he didn't make me feel the way you do." I explain and peck his cheek.

"How do I make you feel?" he asks looking down at our hands and playing with my fingers.

"Like I can just be myself. Like I'll just take one look at you and butterflies will erupt in my stomach. Then when you smile at me it's like those butterflies are armed and are having a war. I feel like I'm on cloud nine and that I have to hold on to something so I don't float away." I say and kiss his cheek.

I start trailing down, leaving soft kisses on his jawline. I kiss closer to his ear and whisper sweet nothings in his ear making him shiver. I keep kissing down his neck and he moans lightly, making me smile. I start slightly sucking on his collar bone.

I pulled away examining my work and peppered it with kisses before leaving a final kiss on his mouth. Before I could pull away he pulled me closer, deepening the kiss and moaned. I start feeling a vibrating in his pocket but Louis didn't.

"Louis." I say trying to get his attention but he just kept kissing me.

"Babe." I moaned and pulled away looking down at his lap. His eyes followed mine and he raised his eyebrows.

"Wait. Don't you think it's a bit early?" he asks me with concern on his face.

"No idiot! Your phone is vibrating!" I exclaim and playfully hit him on his chest. He reaches for it and answers with a swift hello.

"What do you mean?" he asks and I raise my eyebrow in confusion.

"Bloody hell!" he exclaims and looks at me with widen eyes.
