Chapter 1: Opposites Attract

Normani Phillips POV
It's been very hard for my father since my mother passed. They were both the best of friends. They loved each other so much. I loved watching them as I grew up. It showed me how I was supposed to love and take care of my man. My mother passed when I was 18 years of age. Now, I'm 21 going on 22 next year and I'm making my way to the top to earn that money.

I walked towards my nephew who was waiting on me with his arms crossed. I flashed him a smile before looking deeply into his facial features. He looked just like my beautiful mother. I bent down to his level and kissed his forehead.

"I'm sorry, Ethan." I spoke to my 7 year old nephew.

"I've gotta head to work." I pouted a little.

"Why do you always go to work? I just wanna have fun with my Auntie Mani." He folded his arms and walked off.

My older brother came into the kitchen and chuckled a little whilst handing me a cup of coffee. I sighed and joined him by the island.

"I didn't mean to upset Ethan." I frowned.

"It's okay. He'll get over it." Eddie shrugged.

In my family, there is the 6 of us. The eldest was Ryan who's 27. Next is Harmony, then Eddie who's 24 and is the father of my nephew. After Eddie is Trinity, Nathan and the youngest, me. I'm the baby of the family and they still treat me like a baby. The 6 of us have always been close. Whether we're fighting or watching a movie together. We all have love for each other no matter what.

"How's work?" He asked me.

"Meh.." I shrugged.

"Same old same old." I added.

"I heard that Trinity set you up with some guy." He chuckled.

"You already know what happened..?" I smacked my teeth getting annoyed.

"So..what really happened?" He laughed really hard.

"I found out that he was still married. He wasn't even legally separated with his wife. He's got 4 kids and loves to talk about his job. Like he's obsessed with it." I rolled my eyes thinking about the guy that I was set up with by my sister.

"Wha-hey! That's something you've got in common." He joked.

"Ha-ha, very funny(!)" I said in a sarcastic tone.

"Besides, I take my job very seriously." I raised a brow and took a sip.

"Anyway, I can't believe I'm about to say this but Pops is right." He sighed.

"What?" I asked curiously.

"As a big brother, I'm not meant to even say this because you know I'm protective." He started.

"Yeahh..?" I furrowed my brows.

"You've got to start dating." He said slowly.

"Ha!" I started laughing really hard.

"You're hilarious! You're joking, right?" I looked at him with all seriousness.

"No, I'm not. You can't stay lonely forever. Look at me and Gabrielle. We got Ethan and a baby on the way and I'm 24, she's 23. Then you've got Ryan, Aisha and their 2 sons. Then harmony and Hayden." He tells me.
