March had always been a strange month. It never seemed to decide wether it was spring or winter. You could have a cold day full of rain and harsh winds, or a sunny day with cool temperatures. However, March was usually a calm month for newt, creatures slowly starting to come out of their hibernation was usually his only worry.
Until this year.
After diligent years of research and study Newt Scamander had finally finished his manuscript for his book "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them."
His publisher was eager to get it printed and in stores right away, Newt didn't really think anything would come out of it, but oh how wrong he was.
Now he was pacing in Flourish and Botts waiting for his first book signing and release.
"I really don't see the big fuss over this." Newt confessed to his publisher, "It really is just a book about creatures. Most people I've talked to never had an interest in them."
His publisher laughed, "Yes well people always like a new book and especially one as unique as yours. What an opportunity for them to learn!" He exclaimed.
Newt gave him a weak smile, yes perhaps it would be an opportunity to educate his fellow wizards, but what if this just caused a higher demand for illegal trading and selling of these creatures?
He hoped that wouldn't be the case.
"Alright I believe it's time to open the doors." The shopkeeper said taking his keys out to unlock the door.
Newt wanted to stop him, to say maybe we can do this another day? Or never? He thought.
But too late, the doors were opened and in came a bustling crowd of men and women young and old.
He figured most were coming in to avoid the cold air outside, he turned to his publisher who gestured for him to give a briefing on his book.
Newt slowly nodded and awkwardly cleared his throat. "Uh thank you all for coming to my book release, I'm very happy to have written all of my studies down in this book here for you all to learn about. I hope to be able to teach the public that mythical creatures are not something to be afraid of or harmed. They are to be treated like anyone else, with respect and admiration. Thank you."
He bit his lip as a round of clapping followed his short speech. He couldn't help but smile a little.
Maybe this wouldn't be so terrible after all.
His publisher walked up behind him and clapped him on the back, "good job my boy now come sit here and let people have you sign their books and ask you questions."
Newt reluctantly sat down at the table, but he didn't feel so bad when a child who looked a little tall to be a child ran up to him expressing how much he loved creatures.
"And what's your name?" Newt asked now smiling at the boy.
"Rubeus Hagrid!" He exclaimed happily
Newt chuckled and signed his book with an extra little message.
As the line went on Newts hand started to cramp up and he was about to call for a break when an all too familiar person caught his eye.
"Theseus?"
Theseus smiled at him, "I was wondering when you would spot me Newton!" He said laughing, walking up to him and giving him a hug.
Newt stood there awkwardly, "What are you doing here?" He asked
"Oh well I wasn't going to not stop by and congratulate you on your book! Mother is absolutely thrilled and gives you her best wishes."
"Tell her I said thank you, but you can leave now we only have to see each other once every decade." Newt said trying to get back to his audience.
