"Yes!" Tabitha squeaked. "Yes, Austin. That's exactly what happened."

The king and queen were both on their thrones. It was the middle of the night. The queen and the king have been awoken by Austin, who came in with Tabitha. All the maids and guards made a semi-circle around the tension.

"So we heard the scream, and we came outside to find this tiara." Austin continued. Austin was still wet from his trip outside. But the servants didn't touch him. They were too shocked of the news. He held up the tiara, in which the gem was completely dark purple.

"And we learned that the princess was killed by dark magic." Tabitha nodded.

Townspeople started to file into the throne room, curious to see why the whole castle was awake. Children came in, still partially wrapped in blankets, that were soaked wet from the rainy trip to the castle. A baby's whine echoed throughout the hall. The tension was real.

Murmurs echoed through the halls, but silenced when Austin spoke," Tabitha is speaking the truth."

The queen tapped her finger on her chin. "And Tabitha, dearie. How were you awake?"

Tabitha almost lost her tongue. But then she remembered the fairy tale.

"I couldn't sleep at all!" the princess had said in the story.

Tabitha echoed the words. "I couldn't sleep at all."

"There seemed to be a lump in my bed."

"There seemed to be a lump in my bed." Tabitha mused.

The queen paused, thoughtfully. The throne room silenced. Austin put his hand next to Tabitha's. Tabitha could feel the soft breathing of Austin.

The queen clapped. The sound bouncing off the walls. "Well done, Tabitha."

Tabitha smiled. She has done it.

But then the queen stopped clapping. "Well done. You nearly had us fooled."

Tabitha's smile melted. From confusion to terror.

The queen spoke three words to describe her fate. "Lock her up."
