"Okay, Cinderelly!" Mary mused. Aubrey helped Cinderella up to the cellar, with her eyes closed. Aubrey inhaled the welcoming scent of dust and old books.
"You can open your eyes now!" Gus squeaked.
Cinderella opened her eyes. Aubrey breathed out a sigh of relief as Cinderella squealed with excitement as her eyes settled onto her gown.
The gown was pastel pink, with chiffon ruffles on the inside. Bows connected the cascading pink satin. And a white ribbon was wrapped around the waist. A puffy sleeve had lace at the rims.
"Wow!" Cinderella exclaimed. "You guys did so well!"
The mice clapped and cheered. The birds flew everywhere in celebration. Cinderella's eyes drifted over to Aubrey's dress. "Your's too!"
Aubrey blushed. She had taken a lot of time to make it herself. The torso was pastel pink. Layered satin was placed beneath the pink pastel satin skirt.
"Thank you," Aubrey said.
It was around five o'clock. The stepsisters and the stepmother were about to leave. And Cinderella considered in leaving with them. Aubrey tried to protest, but Cinderella insisted on going with them. Aubrey tied the ribbon around Cinderella's waist after she put it on. Cinderella had her brown hair down. Cinderella also tucked in the ruffles on Aubrey's dress. And so they headed down the grand staircase.
The stepsister with orange hair was wearing a purple, silk dress with her hair up. The one on the right had black hair and was wearing a dress similar to her sisters, except it was green. The stepmother had gray hair in a back braid. She was wearing a magenta, simple dress with a blue gem on the collar.
As Aubrey and Cinderella walked down the grand staircase, the stepsisters and mother's faces showed nothing but pure jealousy. Aubrey gave Cinderella a warm smile. Aubrey backed up a little and let Cinderella go first. It was Cinderella's chance to shine after all. Cinderella's dress flowed from behind.
Aubrey took a peek at the stepsisters. They were full of pure hatred. But Aubrey knew something was happening. Something was going to happen. Aubrey felt like she forgot an event in the story. But something was about to go wrong, and Aubrey needed to stop it.
"Cinderella. Wait-" Aubrey tried. But the stepsisters launched themselves into the air, their nails looking ready to shred anything to pieces.
"No!" Aubrey launched herself into the air, ready to intercept the stepsisters. Her finger began to glow gold once again, but it died as Aubrey slammed into Cinderella. Cinderella fell over to the side; with Aubrey standing in her place. Her ankle went around at an awkward angle as she landed. Two dark shadows loomed over Aubrey. And she suddenly felt the heavy weight of the two sisters as she cried out from the pain.
