Chapter 40: Its complicated

"I swear this cold or flu has been going on for two weeks now and it completely sucks" Eva complained as she drunk her hot tea.

"Girl you should go to the doctors" I told her as I wiped the counter down.

"At first I thought it was my period coming cause I get sick before it comes... but now I'm like late... oh shit I'm late..." Eva said starting to freak out.

"Eva it's okay, sometimes our periods change due to the moon" I told her trying to calm her down from her freak out moment.

"What if I'm pregnant... oh snap I could be pregnant..." she said starting to pace.

She started talking to her self really fast as she walked back and forth behind the counter.... I don't think she is, but then again I don't know.

"We can take a pregnancy test if you want?" I asked her "that's the only way you'll find out"

"Will you be there with me?" She asked stopping mid pace.

"Yeah, let's go after work?" I asked her and nodded.

We only have an hour left until it's time to go. We cleaned up as the time went by, which wasn't hard since we didn't get a lot of customers. We swept, mopped, wiped the tables and counters. We put the food away and we clocked out.

"Its going to be okay Eva" I told her trying to ease her thought, but I know its not.

When we pulled up to the pharmacy we got out and went inside, Eva stood there not knowing what pregnancy test to get it.

"Just grab.." I started to say but stopped. Eva ended up grabbing five different test and started walking to the cash register.

We made sure to keep our sunglasses on and heads low, so that no one spots us. Which I think we did good. Eva paid cash and we went back to the car. When we got to Eva house, we ran up the flight of stairs and into her apartment.

"I need water" Eva said going into her kitchen.

"me too"

We drank our water in silent, each to our own thoughts. I don't know what to wear tonight for this date? and then now what if Eva is pregnant? like what?

"Do you have to pee yet?" I asked her.

"It slowly coming, I am just going to pee in a cup and then stick the sticks in the pee." she said thinking out loud.

I stayed quite and let her think, I mean if she is pregnant this is something really crazy and life changing but also a blessing. I mean who wouldn't love a baby.. they are so cute and their love is so pure.

"I gotta pee" she said grabbing a plastic cup.

She went to the bathroom, I sat on one of the bar stools and took the pregnancy test out the box. I waited till she came out to unwrap the sticks.

"Okay, lets stick them in" she said setting the cup of pee on her counter.

I helped her unwrap the sticks and place them in the cup. We waited ten seconds and then placed them on a paper plate.

"If you are , what you going to do?" I asked her curious.

"I'm going to keep the baby, hopefully Daniel will be on board, but if not then I'll raise him or her.. I couldn't get rid of the baby or give it to someone else. It's part of me.." she said with a shaky voice.

It's crazy how just the thought of being pregnant you can have some what of an attachment to the baby.. You already start to plan everything out.

"I'm sure Daniel will want to be part of this journey... plus your guys kid will be so cute! I call being a Tia" I told her excited but still nervous, but try not to show her. I have to remain calm and be her strength not the complete opposite.
