Alison

The argument resulted in us getting back early, not having the lunch we had planned, and him driving off to who knows where. I went into my room and sprawled on the bed.

I missed him after seconds of being mad at him; I didn't know what I was thinking about bringing that up. Everything was going so fine; I just had to act up and ruin everything.

My phone began to ring, pulling me out of my thoughts. I hurried to pick it up, hoping it was him calling.

"Hello?"

Silence.

"David?" I said,

No one answered,

I pulled the phone out of my ear to check the caller, 'Who could be calling with a secret number' I murmured and placed it back to my ear.

"Who the hell are you?" I clamored,

I wasn't in the mood for prank calls and was about to hang up when the anonymous caller decided to speak up,

"Ali, don't hang up" The voice sounded really familiar.

"Who are you?"

Silence.

I could hear the caller's slow breathing,

"I know you're there; tell me who you are, or get off my phone."

"It's me, Matt."

Hell no! My eyes widened and I sat up quickly,

"Just hear me out..." He started.

"How did you get this number? You have some nerve calling me after everything you did." I snarled at him.

"Ali, please...I just want to talk," he said in a calmer tone.

"Don't you ever call this number again; you should be lucky I'm not notifying the cops." I hung up.

'Asshole,' how did he even get my new number?

The phone rang again, and this time was determined not to pick up.

I laid back and returned to sulking over David,

Why hasn't he called? Did I bring it up too soon? I should have at least waited until after graduation to bring that up. I wondered,

I hated the suspense; it was slowly killing me. I was not even able to study for my final exams, and if it continued, I might actually never graduate.

The phone buzzed again, but this time with an actual number.

I picked it up and answered it.

"Please! Don't hang up." Matt pleaded this time.

I sighed, "What do you want, Matt?"

"I just want us to talk. Please, don't say no; it's really urgent."

"Why on earth would I want to talk to you or even see you after everything you've done? Why am I even still talking to him?"
