A rosiness emerged on my cheeks as I daydreamed in the shower, forgetting I was late for school.
I turned it off and hurried out to get ready, I dried my hair and wore on a blue jumpsuit for school.
Grabbing my bag, I ran out of the door.
I made it to the threshold of the kitchen and leaned to watch Mr. Hertz, I meant...David, show off his mastery skills,
His back was turned, so he didn't notice me standing here,
At least that was what I thought,
"You're late."He chirped in, with his back still turned to me,
He never ceased to amaze me,
"How did you know?"
He turned,
"The giggling."
I forgot I did that sometimes,
He made his way toward me with a plate of scrambled eggs and bacon in his hands, I could never get enough of this other side of him.
"Morning." He leaned over and placed a light kiss on my cheeks, making me giggle even more.
"You didn't have to make me breakfast," I said.
He placed the plate on the table in front of me and pulled out a chair for me,
"It's just the two of us."
"Aren't you eating?" I noticed he made just one plate.
"I already had coffee,"
"You refused to eat last night too. Are you okay?" I reached out and placed my hand underneath his neck.
He seemed warm,
"Do you need me to stay?" I worried,
He shook his head and took my hand to his lips, "I'm fine." he mumbled, kissing my hand. I could sense something was off with him but I decided not to bring it up any further,
The doorbell rang suddenly and he motioned towards the door to get it.
I continued eating and soon heard whispers, but they died down as David alongside Bate approached me.
"Hey, Ali," Bates said.
"Hi."
He smiled and directed his pending gaze to David. It took as my cue to leave.
"I should go." I got up.
"Stay safe..."
I nodded and made my way quietly toward the door.
I really wanted to hold him before I left, but I wasn't sure Bate knew about us and the last thing I wanted to do was put him in a situation where he had to explain our relationship to his best friend.

In school 3 hours later.*
"Can we hang out later?" I made a new friend in a fitness class, her name was Emma. She was a foreign exchange student from Germany.
