David Hertz

I was in a meeting, "Sir, I think that's a great idea; looking at this statement, their company doesn't have enough funds to afford a merger with us."

Then I looked at the time and cursed under my breath, "I have to go." I got up and left. I forgot I was supposed to pick up Ali from school.

I arrived at the school in barely 30 minutes, but she was nowhere to be seen.

She probably got tired of waiting and decided to walk home. I decided to trace her steps; she couldn't have gone far.

I was gradually driving through the streets when I caught her standing on the side of the road with Matt and without a thought,

I got out of the car and grabbed him away from her,

Fucking bastard,

I'd kill him!!!

"Alison, get in the car," I growled,

Matt smirked as if amused,

"I missed you too, buddy. Should we hug?" He laughed.

I tightened my grip on him, making it hard for him to breathe,

"You haven't learned your lesson?"

"I just wanted to talk. You think you're the only one with a right to her."

I crashed my fist hard on his jaw, causing him to fall.

He laughed, blood rolling down to his mouth.

"Ah.." He let out a triumphant smile,

I pulled him off the floor and punched him again, causing him to tumble on the floor again,

"Get up!" I dragged him up and leaned to his ear, "I had warned you to stay away from her; you're really that desperate to get your hands on those papers."

He chuckled, turning his eyes to Alison,

"Now Hertz, I think you know what I am after. .. Now I'm going to help Ali find it too. Let's see long you can you hide?"

My blood boiled,

I hit him harder, and he took each beating with a laugh that just added fury to the fire.

"Stop it!!!l" Alison screamed suddenly and began crying, "David, please stop." Why was she defending him?

"She's finally seen your true side." Matt uttered mockingly, "You're a startling man, Hertz." he laughed; the mere amusement on his face made me want to strangle him, my whole body was itching to do it, but I couldn't risk scaring Alison anymore; I had already done enough damage.

I gave a sign, and my men came rushing out to take him off my hands,

"Jealousy surely doesn't suit you, Hertz." he laughed as they took him away before I did anything I would regret,

I dragged Alison by the wrist and pulled her towards the car. She yanked away as soon as we got to the car, "That was so unnecessary."

"You're defending that bastard in front of me."

"Well, if you were here on time like you promised, I wouldn't have met him." She snarled and got into the car.

Alison

We rode in silence. David didn't say a word to me, but I could feel the rage radiating off his body; he was pissed and trying really hard not to lash at me,

He was never the type to express how he felt, and that usually drove me insane. What was the point of hitting Matt? What if he killed him?

The car came to a stop, and I realized we had arrived,

"Go inside and get some rest," he whispered with a flicker of anger.

"Are you not coming?" I asked,

"I have some business to take care of; get some rest."

"David--"

"We will talk in the morning," he cut me off.

I stared in silence for a while before reaching for the door,

"Be careful," I told him as I got down from the car. I couldn't help but worry about where he was heading with all that anger emanating out of him.

I stood by the entrance and watched his car drive off before deciding to go in.

"Ali?" Henna called as she caught me walking through the door, "What happened?" she noticed the grim on my face.

"I'm going to bed. Goodnight." I hurried upstairs to my room; thankfully, she didn't follow.

I woke up by exactly 3.00 A.m, feeling a bit disturbed. I stared up at the ceiling and replayed everything that transpired today, from Matt confessing his feelings and David almost killing him; that was so terrifying to watch; I had never seen that side of him.

I have never seen that away.

He got home a few hours ago and still hasn't come to see me; nothing killed me more than his silent treatments,

I had to make him listen to my side of the story, so I could get past the guilt in my guts,

I gained a little confidence and got out of bed, deciding to see him myself. I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared or nervous, scared that he might still be pissed and nervous that he might lash out at me.

I tiptoed out of my room, careful not to wake Henna, and found myself in front of his bedroom door. I inhaled deeply before turning the doorknob and walking in,

"David?" I whispered as I approached his bed.

He looked fast asleep. How could he be sleeping? I could barely shut my eyes.

I went and sat at the edge of the bed, watching sleep.

I sat there for a moment, trailing my fingers along his cheeks and admiring how delightful he looked even while he was asleep.

I could count the number of times I have seen him like this and not working.

Well, at least one of us is getting some sleep. I decided to let him sleep and turned to leave; I reached the door-

"Ali, come here." His voice cut through the silence, stopping halfway to the door.

I turned to see him wide awake,

"I didn't mean to wake you." I stuttered. He sat up and regarded me without speaking. I stepped closer to him again, "I just couldn't sleep." I paused before speaking again, "Are you still mad at me?" I asked.

He reached out and grabbed my left hand,

"You disobeyed me."

"No, I ran into him while waiting for you," I said sharply, "I am sorry, I overreacted this morning and after. You were right; Matt is clearly up to something. I'll stay away from him."

"Alright." He pulled off the covers, "Get in."

I smiled and got in bed with him,

"Get some sleep; we will talk in the morning," he whispered and kissed my side. That just made me feel ten times better, but I still felt I owed him an explanation for what happened; there shouldn't be any room for doubt between us,

"David?" I started.

He hummed with his eyes closed,

"This is irrelevant, but Matt was going to help me find my parent's killer," I said, expecting him to get mad and possessive, but he wasn't mad, "That's why I met with him...I just thought you should know."

I felt his body stiffen around me, "Thanks for telling me. Get some sleep." That was all he said, and then he wrapped his arms around me protectively.

I get a lot of hate from this book, and it's really discouraging. Take a chill pill and remember it's fictional, just works of my silly imagination.
