David Hertz

The memorial service was conducted by the head priest and there was a remembrance speech from everyone that knew and loved Henna, seeing all these people and hearing the beautiful things they had to say about I realized I knew nothing about Henna's life and it made me feel terrible.

After Alison gave hers, the ceremony ended and it was time for refreshments.

I glanced over at Alison and caught her cackling with a boy her age, his hands were all over her thigh, touching her inappropriately. I knew I had lost the right to be jealous but I can't enjoy seeing some boy putting their hands on her.

"Who's that kid?" I asked Lydia, standing next to me.

She looked over at them, "Nate Gilman, that's Jane Gilman's son, she is the owner of Juliette, one of the most influential clothing line companies in the country." She said with a satisfied smirk on her face, "Nate goes to an ivy league school. And is apparently a lady's man." she added.

I curled my fist and kept my animosity in control,

"They look good together."

"Don't say that," I warned.

"I mean, they are both--"

"Excuse me." I proceeded to go over there but Lydia grabbed a hold of my arm stopping me. I glanced at her hand on my arm and then at her.

"Sorry." She let go quickly. "You don't want to make a scene, people are watching."

I ignored her and went over to them, my blood boiling with each step.

She was brushing his arm and whispering something into his ear as I approached them, "So, how about I take you out sometime?"

"How about you leave with your limbs still attached?" I interrupted whatever lie he was feeding her.

"What?"

"Get your hands off her," I warned him.

"Alright! She's all yours, man." He got up and left.

"What do you think you are doing right now?" She gritted at me.

"Can we talk?"

Alison gave out a frustrated sigh and gulped down her last shot, then signaled for a refill.

"Since when do you drink?" I scolded her.

"Just leave me the hell alone, David?" She gritted once more and got up to walk away from me, I grabbed her by the arm.

"Let's talk in my office."

"I'm not going anywhere with you," she yelled and jerked her arms from me. I noticed people mumbling at us, "You're not the boss of me anymore, so fuck off." She poured herself another shot.

"Alison, you either come willingly or I would throw you over my shoulder and take you with me. Your choice." I threatened, irritated with her rebellious behavior.

"You wouldn't dare," She challenged me.

"Fine....." I leaned down to swoop her over my shoulder since she preferred it the hard way.

"Fine." She surrendered before I could, "You're impossible." She murmured, moving down the hallway to my office,

I excused myself and went after her.

We stepped into my office and I locked the door behind us just in case anyone tries to interrupt. I wanted to be alone with her that way we could talk and lessen the tension between us.

She moved towards the windowpane and stared out silently. I didn't realize how much I had missed just standing in the same room with her until that moment.
