Jhope

*phone ringing*

I open my eyes slowly and look at my clock.. it's 1:12 a.m.. I pick up the phone, angry at whoever's calling. "What?!" I answer with a groggy whisper of a voice. "Y/n?" Someone says. "Ya, why are you calling?" I whisper again. "This is Jhope's friend Taehyung!!! I just wanted to say that Jhope— *loud yells*" I'm so confused and tired.. I was hoping to sleep in since it's Friday night but I guess I can't now that Jhope and his friends are playing pranks on me.. ughhh.. before they can say anything else I hang up and power my phone all the way off so I can't get any more calls.

The next morning I wake up and turn on my phone. I look at my notifications and see that I have a ton of texts from Jhope and Taehyung. I go through them:

From: Taehyung
Tae: y/n!!
Tae: y/n!! Wake up!
Tae: i need to tell you something!!
Tae: really??? Y/n it's so important that you hear this!!!

From Jhope:
Jhope: hey y/n, don't listen to anything Taehyung says, he's just lying... it's all a joke
Jhope: just ignore him please !!
Jhope: delete his messages and don't mind them.
Jhope: and I'm sorry, he called you on my phone. Sorry to bother you. Bye.

I don't know what I'm supposed to reply back to either of them so I just delete the messages. I decide to be productive this Saturday morning so I grab my backpack and laptop and head to my favorite coffee shop to get some work done.

I sit down at a small booth with my coffee and start working on homework. An hour goes by and I hear the door of the coffee shop open. I look over and see Jhope and Taehyung. I try to cover my face with my hair and turn away so they don't see me. They get they're coffee and sit at a table far away from me and are both facing towards the window which is luckily away from me. I hear my phone buzz and look down and it's a text:

From: Taehyung
Tae: hey y/n I'm sorry about last night, you should come to the coffee shop so Jhope and I can talk to you.

I'm nervous about lying to them but i do anyway:

Y/n: it's okay, sorry i have too much work to do

Tae: aww okay. Jhope will be sad though

Y/n: why would he be sad?

Tae: it's not my place to say.. never mind forget what I said

I'm so confused.. I look over at where they're sitting and I see Jhope look down at Taehyung's phone, rip it out of his hands, and read the texts. He looks at taehyung and starts shoving him and covering his face which is turning red. He pulls out his own phone and types. I get another buzz from my phone:

From Jhope:
Jhope: sorry I'm bothering you again y/n, just please ignore taehyung

Y/n: what's going on Jhope?

Jhope: um it's hard to explain I guess. Sorry

I don't understand why these guys are doing this to me.. are they just making fun of me or something? Then I see taehyung pull out his phone and put it to his ear while laughing and Jhope is trying so hard to pull the phone away from him. Then, my phone rings loudly. I quickly try to turn it off but not quick enough. Jhope and Taehyung both turn to look at me. They both get up and walk over to me. "Too busy to come to the coffee shop, hm?" Taehyung teeses. I laugh awkwardly as I put my hair behind my ear. I look at Jhope and he's looking away awkwardly. Taehyung nudges Jhope then says, "umm so I gotta go.. do something.. bye guys.." and he runs away. Jhope watches as he runs away and then looks back at me shyly.

"Mind if I sit here?" He asks quietly. I nod. "Can you please explain what all of this was about?" I ask him as I gesture to my phone. He looks at me then looks away as he nervously scratches the back of his neck. "Well.. taehyung was just trying to.. I don't know.. set us up together..." he won't make eye contact. "Why would he want to do that?" I ask? Completely confused. "I.. I don't know.. it's taehyung.. he's crazy haha.. uh sorry I should go, bye y/n" He then rushes away.

After that I walk back home and sit in my room, thinking about everything that's happened. Why would Jhope suddenly be so nervous around me? While I'm mid-thought, my phone rings. I pick it up: "hello?" I reply. "Y/n? Hi, it's Jhope"

Y/n: "oh hi Jhope, what's up?"

Jhope: "I just wanted to say something.. I didn't have enough courage to say it to you earlier today"

Y/n: "what is that?"

Jhope: "well.. I.. the reason I've been acting so weird around you is that.. well.. I.. like you y/n. If you don't feel the same way, I understand but I just wanted to tell you so I could get past the awkwardness. When I'm around you, I can't breathe right and my heart speeds up. But what's worse was the fact that you didn't know how I felt. My heart hurts thinking about you with other guys. I know it's a long shot thinking you could like me back but I just wanted to let you know that you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and you make me happy."

Y/n: "I.. Jhope I don't know what to say.. I like you too.. but I had no idea you felt this way

Jhope: "really?? You like me back??"

Y/n: "yes, really!"

Jhope: "oh y/n, you've made me the happiest person alive, you're beautiful. Do you want to go on a date ?"

Y/n: "of course, meet me at the coffee shop"
