Sunday morning, 11:26 am. It was a regular morning at a seemingly regular church. People had come for their regular day at church to learn about God.
"And so it is with great honor to be able to say these words. Brother Ryan, if you would."
Ryan looked up at him quickly and nodded, smiling. He got up, book in hand and stepped onto the alter. He put the book down and smiled at the people.
"(insert stuff) "
Just at that moment, three men walked in, slamming the doors open. They were laughing and joking around. People quickly shushed them and they quieted down. The middle one nudged at them and motioned over to Ryan.
The one in the middle was wearing a red flannel with jeans. The one at the right was wearing a light blue buttoned up shirt and black pants. The one on the left was wearing a black denim jacket over a white shirt. Basically, looking like a character from the outsiders.
"Is that him, Shane?" the one on the left said.
"Yeah. Cute, isn't he, Adam?" responded Shane.
The three of them continued to talk as they took the front row seat.
Ryan gulped and continued on talking about whatever he was talking about.
"So, Shane.. When're you gonna do the thing?" said Adam.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Do it! Do it!"
Shane chuckled, rolling his eyes.
"OK, OK, OK. I'll do it. Calm down, Rob."
Rob jumped in his seat, excited. Shane looked over at Ryan and snapped his fingers.
"And so he said-AYE!!"
Ryan quickly turned around, looking behind at his legs. Everyone giggled slightly, including the three men.
"I-I.. Ahem. S-sorry, it felt like something bit me.. Uh. Do I continue?"
The priest off to the side said,
"obviously."
Ryan nodded.
Adam nudged Shane.
"Come on. Do it again.", he urged him.
"Ok, ok, just wait."
Ryan went back to talking but before long, Shane opened his hand and slammed it shut.
"For tomorrow we shall-"
Ryan never got to finish what he was going to before the book somehow slammed shut on his hand.
"OH, FOR THE LOVE OF-"
He looked at the people looking back at him. They couldn't help but laugh. Rob and, Adam had lost it. Shane was only chuckling at the poor priest. Ryan felt his face grow red. One of the priests behind him grabbed him by his collar and looked at him straight in the eye.
"GO sit down. Now" , he said through clenched teeth.
Ryan sighed and nodded. He got down of the whatever you call the thing and sat down beside Shane, not taking much of who he was.
"Sorry, man. What happened?" he said to Ryan.
Ryan sighed.
"I.. I don't know. It just felt like something bit me then the book.. I say it was ghosts. That has got to be ghosts. Or a demon."
Shane laughed. (a/n: wHEEZE-)
"You kidding me? A demon? In a church!? That's hilarious. And by hilarious I mean sad."
"Oh, just you wait and see! I'm gonna catch that demon or ghost whatever! And I'll show them! I'll show them all!!"
Shane chuckled.
"Whatever you say, Mr..?"
"Ryan. Ryan Bergara.".
"Shane. Shane Madej"
The two two shook hands and didn't speak until the session was over and everyone began to leave. The three men got up and began to leave. Ryan looked over at Shane and ran over to him.
"Uh, Shane! Mr Madej!"
"Hey look. It's the small one", said Adam, chuckling.
Rob snickered but Shane held up a hand meaning "Shut up."
"Hey there, Ryan. Or Mr Bergara. "
"Ryan is fine. Uh, I just wanted to know if you-"
Shane handed him a strip of paper. Ryan looked at it then at him. Shane winked, clicking his tounge before walking away. As he was walking away, he motioned to the other two to come follow and they did so, chuckling.
" I.. Just wanted to ask him if he could help me tidy up after hours.."
He looked at the paper. It was a phone number. He smiled slightly. At least he knew that he could contact him. Wait.. Did he think he was into him? Oh God wait did he?
-Timeskip to like the middle of the night because yes-
The other four priests, one of which was with Ryan when the incident happened, where gathering their things and began to leave. Ryan looked at them and decided to speak up.
"Do I really have to stay here..? By myself?"
"Yes, brother Ryan", said one of the priests.
"Besides, there's nothing to be afraid of."
"Oh, yes there is! There's things in here! I can hear little taps and- I'm just saying it could be a ghost or-or a demon!"
The four priests broke out in laughter.
"Ryan, there's no such things as ghosts. And a demon in a church? Come on! That's like a fish out of water"
"But-"
The priest sighed, adjusting his glasses. His hazel hair blended well with those cold blue eyes of his.
"Ryan. There's no such things as ghosts. And there are certainly no demons here. Goodbye. And don't come out of this church until you've tidied up. Especially after that stunt you pulled this morning."
Ryan sighed and nodded.
"Okay.. Bye"
And just like that, they left him. He was alone, standing there.
In some other part of town, the three men where talking and joking around. Shane reached to get something but realized it wasn't there. He began to panic.
"Oi, bruv. What's wrong?" asked Adam.
He realized where he'd left it.
"Oh, shit!" he whispered.
"What? What is it?" asked Rob.
"Ok, so you know that church we went to just to get a kick out of Ryan?"
The both nodded.
"Well.. I may or may not have left my uh. Dagger there on accident"
"Wait, the other dagger or.. THAT dagger?"
"THAT DAGGER! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE OTHER DAGGER? I DONT EVEN CARRY THAT ONE AROUND!"
Rob snickered, making Shane groan in annoyance.
"I'm gonna go get it back before Ryan accidently kills himself or summons something with it. See ya guys"
And with that, Shane stepped into a shadow and disappeared into the darkness.
-and back to the smol bab Ryan-
Ryan had finally finished tidying up. He yawned, rubbing his eyes. He went over to a desk in the far back of the church and sat down. He began to work on his paranormal studies because he's Ryan.
"What time is it anyways?" he muttered to himself.
The time read 2:56 am.
His heart jumped up into his throat. It was only a mere four minutes before it was 3:00 am. The withing hour.
Shane appeared within the church and when he saw Ryan, he quickly turned himself invisible.
"Oh, this is going to bed fun", he said to himself, chuckling.
Ryan tried to slow down his breathing to no avail. He was terrified. As if on que, the doors which were open had now slammed shut.
Ryan let out a small scream. All the candles that were lit had been snuffed out, leaving Ryan in almost darkness if not for the windows of the church, letting in small bits of moonlight.
Shane chuckled and decided to use the moonlight to his advantage. He took to the shadows and configured them into horrible twisted shapes of disfigured monsters and, well, demons.
Ryan quickly grabbed his nearby cross and held it close to him. Tears had formed at the sides of his eyes. He was all alone with no one to help him.
Shane was about to give the final blow by scaring Ryan but he saw the tears amongst the mortals' eyes. You could hear Shane's heart break. He usually never cared about this but Ryan's face just showed utter terror.
Shane swept his hand and everything went back to normal. The candles were lit and the doors stayed shut. Ryan let out a huge sigh of relief and began to walk backwards. Unfortunately, he bumped into Shane.
Because of this, Ryan let out the most manifest scream.. And by manliest I mean he sounded like a ten year old at a Justin Bieber concert.
"Woah! Hey! It's me! Calm down! I won't eat you I promise!"
Ryan took a deep breath and looked up at the man who was like a foot taller than him.
"Oh.. Hello again, Shane"
"Hello again princess."
Ryan rolled his eyes, smirking.
"Uh.. How did you get in?"
"The window. Yes. The window"
"The win..? Nevermind. Uh, what can I help you with?"
Shane smiled nervously.
"Just lost something. No big deal. You don't need to help. I'm a big tough guy I can handle it."
"Oh, come on! I don't want to be alone and you need help! So, come on!"
Shane watched as Ryan began searching up and down the aisles. Shane sighed.
For a good ten minutes, the two were just walking around like goofballs in search of something. Ryan didn't even know what it was so from time to time he'd ask Shane if it was whatever he'd found. It was usually a no.
Shane was searching until he heard Ryan make a gasp sound. He quickly turned around to see the mortal holding a dagger. His dagger. It was dark purple and had satanic symbols on it because yes.
"Shane.. This dagger. It's.."
"Mine."
Ryan looked at him, fear in his eyes and gulped.
"What..?" he said softly.
Shane sighed, shaking his head.
"I didn't want you to know but..", he said, shrugging.
He opened his hand and the dagger flew from Ryan's hand to his. As soon as he held the dagger, horns appeared upon his head. His sharp teeth were now exposed. A tail swished from side to side.
Ryan felt his whole body freeze with fear and shock. He couldn't move to save his life. As Shane watched he couldn't help but smirk. Ryan looked absolutely adorable.
"You know.. I suppose you were right." he began, as he started walking towards Ryan.
Ryan, without thinking, walked backwards into a wall as the demon came closer. Ryan looked up at him, terrified.
"There was a demon in here.. And I guess.. You could say.."
His tail began to slowly stroke up and down the priests leg. Ryan looked down at it and tried to get it off but Shane made him look into his eyes. His now fierce yellow eyes.
He came closer, putting his head near the mortals neck. Ryan could feel one of the demons hands hands grab his own. The other, however, was on his hip, grabbing it firmly.
"You're my next victim~", he whispered into his ear, making way for a little gasp to escape from Ryan's lips. Oh this should be good~
