"Ryan I know that I've put you through hell literally but I just want to say that I'm.. That I'm sorry. I respect what you want and if you want to leave then leave but I just want you to know. I love you"
Shane stared at himself in the mirror before slamming his head into said mirror. This was the ninth time he'd done this. The mirror was to the brink of breaking at this point.
"I've put you through hell?? God what's wrong with me! Wait on second thought don't answer that"
He sat down on the bed then layed down on it. He rubbed his temple, thoughts racing back and forth in his head. He just kinda stared at the ceiling for a while, not knowing what to do. His mind was completely blank. He couldn't think of anything except..
"What the hell am I doing. He said he wanted to go so I gotta take him but.."
But he couldn't. He couldn't stand the thought of him having to leave Ryan. Sure Ryan was annoying and scared of almost everything but he still couldn't help but smile every time he thought about him.
He couldn't help but get lost in endless fantasies of him and Ryan doing something stupid but together. Maybe in Iceland. Or robbing a bank. Hell, even stealing a bridge from Goatman would be nice. He didn't care. As long as they did it together.
He decided to get up and go outside of the room before his thoughts got the best of him. He passed by murmuring demons and held the urge to kill them. "I heard he's gotten rid of yet another pet". "Maybe next time till be a girl". "Surprising. This one didn't last as long as we thought they would". Pushing those thoughts and words out of his mind, he continued to walk, giving a demon the occasional glare or two.
He stopped walking and turned to a familiar closet door. He sighed and walked inside.
"Hey Edgar, I just wanted to- OH GOD"
Shane quickly turned around, covering his eyes and regretting every decision he's ever made. Edgar grumbled, putting aside the magazines, lotion, and tissues. He could never have a moment of peace could he?
"Didn't anyone in heaven ever teach you to knock?" he said.
"I didn't expect you to. Ahem. Anyways. Have you maybe seen Ryan? Anywhere? At all?"
Edgar shook his head, zipping up his fly.
"No I haven't. Did you look?"
"I went a couple steps outside of the room and then went in here"
"And that's why"
Edgar sighed. Shane crossed his arms, a little irritated now. Edgar was irritated too.
"Shane, if you really love him then you have to tell him. But first, you have to ask yourself. What are you willing to do for him? Will you stay committed even after all those years of being together?"
Shane blinked in confusion.
"What do you mean committed? Of course I'll be committed why wouldn't I be?"
Edgar smirked sadly.
"Relationships often die young because of the 'spark no longer being there'. It kills relationships and love. Not being committed to one fully and truly. Finding comfort and love in the arms of another simply because your significant other has made you upset or has not given you what you wanted"
He paused to take a breath, almost as if to regain control. His hands were balled into fists. He bit his lip before continuing.
"Love is not a game, Shane. You cannot do what you did with the rest with Ryan. You just can't. He is different. A mortal. Human. The most fragile being we have compared to glass. Not a play thing you can toss around and have fun with. Again, love is not a game. Love is not cruel. However, we have made love a game and cruel. Not only that but can you be so sure that you love him? How can you be so sure you won't leave him in the dust like the last one?"
Those words struck Shane like arrows, each one worse than the other. It was as if his entire world was a glass box, shattering with every word that came out of Edgar's mouth. He felt as though his heart was going to burst out from his chest.
His stomach twisted into knots and his hands clenched. He tried to regulate his breathing but it was still shaky and harsh. He thought it couldn't get any worse. He thought that was it.
He was wrong. What Edgar said next would haunt him for the rest of the short time he spent with Ryan.
"How can you be so sure he hasn't done the same?"
And with that, his glass box came to the brink of shattering. His throat clenched up as a million thoughts raced around his head, each one worse than the other. He didn't speak. He didn't say anything but run outside, desperately looking for Ryan.
He pushed demons out of the way, looking for his mortal. He wanted to say so many things to him. He wanted to say he was sorry. He wanted to tell him he loved him.
But did he really love him? He wasn't even sure now. He wasn't sure of anything. How could someone like Ryan love someone like him? A demon. A monster. A-
His thoughts stopped. He took a deep breath in and smelled a familiar scent. His sadness and desperation slowly but surely turned into anger and hatred. He walked slowly into a dark, seemingly endless hall.
"Alright. Show yourself, coward. Face me!" he yelled, his voice slightly cracking.
A sinister chuckle went in one ear and out the other like a worm. No. A snake. Shane turned around, opening his hand. His dagger formed.
"Aw, come on. Can't we just have a chat? No weapons. Just a little chat. That's all"
Something crawled up Shane's spine. He whirled around and struck at whatever could've been behind him. A shriek was heard as the thing sunk back into the shadows. He didn't get enough time to see whatever it was.
"And now you're trying to harm my friend? Oh, Shane. How far you've fallen"
"Cut the shit, Sebastian. Where's Ryan?"
He didn't turn around fast enough this time. He was struck with an object to the back of the head. He groaned as the spike of pain faded into an ache. Shane struggled to keep his balance as his vision begun to fail him, the floor swaying underneath his feet.
Sebastians' "friend" grabbed Shane's wrist and twisted it, causing him to drop the dagger. However, it wasn't just to make him drop the dagger. A cracking sound was heard. Shane screamed in pain.
It couldn't possibly get any worse than this he thought.
He was wrong yet again. The thing punched him in the jaw then kicked him in the gut. How that didn't cause him to pass out then and there he still would never figure out. Shane dropped to his knees and his stomach betrayed him.
I can control this. This is.. Is..
Like a bathtub beginning to overflow, his mouth begun to water and his body hurled forward. His breathing quickened and he coughed slightly and a small bit came out.
That wasn't so bad.. Maybe I can-
Then it all came out. Like an ocean getting ready for a huge tsunami, it all just came out from Shane. It burned, both in smell and in taste. The smell was horrendous but the taste was worse so much worse.
His whole body was shaking and trembling at this point. His eyes teared up to the point of some even streaming down his cheeks.
He looked down and tilted his head in confusion. It looked like.. Coffee grounds?
"Internal bleeding? Oh how wonderful!"
Internal bleeding? Oh God. This can't be it. This can't..
His thoughts uprubtly stopped. The ringing in his head just kept going. His arms and legs shaked. He looked up weakly, his vision also betraying him. His eyes so desperately wanted to close but he couldn't.
Breathing: shaky and shallow. Vision: failing. Limbs: sore and tired. Mind: broken and exhausted.
"He was always a fighter. Wasn't he, Sebastian?" growled the dark blob next to what was most likely Sebastian.
That voice.. I know that.. I.. I know..
Sebastian knelt down and ever so gently pushed him with his pinky finger. Shane lost consciousness before he hit the floor. Sebastian scoffed, almost annoyed.
"Oh come on. I wanted him to last just a couple more seconds. Just to tell him of what that mortal of his really did that cold dark night. You remember that don't you?"
The shadowy figure made a gesture similar to a nod. The figure circled around the fallen demons body. It sighed in disgust.
" It smells like death. Why don't we just get this over with right here right now", it growled.
"Patience, my dear. We have yet to get the second piece of our puzzle"
The figure went behind Sebastian and almost seemed to hug him. Either that or he was trying to engulf him from behind. It seemed like an oddly sweet gesture; sweet but unnerving
Whether it was or wasn't, Sebastian put his hand up to his shoulder to hold whatever but of darkness was there. The figure formed a hand and held his. Sebastian sighed with content.
"And the mortals cross pendant? What was so important about taking it?"
The figure wrapped its darkness around Sebastian, almost trapping him. Sebastians eyes rolled back in his head, filled with rapture. The figures hand now went from. Sebastian shoulder to his chest. It continued to glide down towards his stomach and..
" Now now. We still have yet to find you a proper vessel", Sebastian cooed, grabbing the figures hand.
It growled, eager to continue what it was doing or was going to do. But even then, it obeyed.
"I thought we had already found my vessel. The mortal. Is that not why you wanted his body?"
Sebastian smirked.
"Yes, I suppose I did. However, there were some complications in finding the mortal."
He turned around to face this figure of dark nothingness. The figures matter seemed to begin to shape into a human shape. Not a very good one but it's doing its best. It almost looked like.. Ryan?
"You do have him in your posesión, correct?" it questioned.
"Of course. Nothing to worry about, my sweet. I've got him in my grasp. Or well, Anthony's grasp."
"Another one of your tricks I see."
"What can I say? A little magic here and a little magic there. I can make anything look like anything. At a cost, of course but even then I do have to say. That mortal was delicious"
The figure growled, seeming almost jealous. Sebastian chuckled, looking up at it.
"Don't worry. You'll always be my favorite. Besides Shane of course but even then he doesn't come close to you. Anyways, I hope you'll love his body as much as I did"
A small beeping sound. Sebastian looked at his wrist and sighed. The figure tilted it's head slightly.
"The mortal is waking up?"
"The mortal is waking up", the demon confirmed.
"Well, I must get going. Otherwise he'll get suspicious. Be good for me will you?"
The figure nodded. The two just stood there for a moment, relishing how far they've come for this. They've waited for so long to be able to see the mighty Shane Madej fall and put an end to his reign. To get back what was truly theirs.
A groaning sound broke the silence. They turned only to see Shane struggling to regain consciousness. Sebastian groaned in annoyance.
"He was knocked out for only a couple of minutes and now he's all fine and dandy? Not in my hell."
Sebastian walked over to Shane and gave him a good kick in the head, further worsening his condition. He lay there like a broken doll that had been left out in the rain for just a little too long.
" Stupid angels grace-essence whatever it's called. We should extract that. See what happensShouldn't we?
My dear Ricky Goldsworth?"
--
Ryan's eyes opened and he just stared at the ceiling. He didn't speak nor make a sound. Sitting up, he put his hand over his head and rubbed his eyes.
Why did he do that? Was he just angry? Did he want Shane to feel the same pain he felt? Why did he do that? How could he ever tell Shane? What would Shane do? Why did he do that?
Why did he enjoy it as much as he did?
As these thoughts and feelings bounced around his head, he felt them engulfing him; swallowing him whole. His eyes teared up and his throat clenched up.
A small whimper escaped from his lips. He put his hand up to his mouth to not let another sound slip out. God, he felt so pathetic. He was so pathetic. How could he tell Shane? What would he tell Shane?
He felt arms wrap around him from behind. He was startled at first but after felt comforted and somewhat relieved. That is until he realized who it was.
"Good morning, Ryan. You doing okay? I heard something"
Ryan took a deep breath in, trying to control himself.
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine just thinking about stuff"
"Anthony" sighed. His hands held Ryan's in his own. The size difference was somewhat amusing to the demon.
"It's about Shane isn't it?"
Silence. Ryan didn't need to say anything; Anthony knew. Of course he knew. He held him closer. A sweet gesture but one that could very easily be taken as a sign of control. And for Ryan? He could barely tell the difference in the state he was in.
" Don't worry, Ryan. Things will get better."
He gave him a little peck on the cheek. Ryan couldn't help but feel warm inside. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"God I hope so."
"But you have to remember. If you want things to get better, you're going to have to leave some things behind"
That stabbed Ryan in his heart. He stayed silent for a while with his thoughts. He swallowed before speaking.
"Yeah.. I know. I will"(a/n: heehoo peanut. I'm so sorry this took so long to do. Just kinda lost motivation and some of the older parts kinda stink. I'll make it up by trying to keep it more interesting and not so cliché. And trying to keep a better upload schedule. But yeye. Thanks to those who like stuck it out this long. Thank - Pam, the cooking spray)
