Shane continued to run towards the blinding light. He finally got through it, panting.
"Oh shit. I'm out of shape", he said, wheezing and choking slightly.
He looked up. Everything was white. The sky, the ground, the house in front of him along with the porch and stairs leading up to the front door. The only thing that wasn't white were the trees that surrounded the house. They were as dark as my humor.
It was strange. The trees gave a grim and sort of frightening aura. It was as if they were watching. As if they were listening.
Shane got chills. He shook off the feeling and climbed up the stairs. Feeling something, he stopped, looking behind him. Expecting to see some monster for him to fight off, he was just a tad but surprised to see nothing. Then he looked down.
There lay pitch black footsteps, as if it were burned into the white steps. Although shocking, it didn't really faze him. He was a demon after all. Putting that aside, he opened the door and walked inside the house, if you could barely even call it a house.
Inside was just one long corridor of doors that seemed to stretch on forever, not seeming to stop. He gulped slightly before straightening himself and walking down the long hallway.
"I'm not afraid of a house. I'm not afraid of a house. There's nothing to be scared of", he muttered to himself.
"I mean unless it's the Monster House house. Shit was honestly scary"
Some of the doors gave off a pleasant aura, a welcoming one. The kind of feeling you'd get when greeted by a puppy or when you get a good grade on a test you bullshited your way through.
Others, however, gave off a violent aura. The kind one would expect when entering that one room in your house that gives you the chills or going off in the dark outside on your own. Just me? Okay.
Out of all of these, however, there was one in particular that gave an extra effort to freak Shane out. It was all black with little white streaks running every which way, like that of the roots of a tree. He made a mental note to not open that door.
Inside the door, lay a tired, scared, little mortal. His throat was raw from screaming for help for what felt like an eternity. He could feel himself getting weaker and weaker. He didn't want to die here. Not yet.
His arms, legs, and neck were chained onto a wall. Raising his head slightly, he looked up. He groaned quietly.
"Shane..", he quietly whispered.
Shane stopped. It was like a sign from God. Or Satan? I dunno. He turned around and went back to the door. He put his hand to it, the door burning his hand. He hissed slightly, pulling his hand back quickly. He made another mental note to not touch the white streaks.
He put his head close to the door.
"Ryan?"
Ryan looked up slowly, tired and filled with pain. The sound of his heartbeat throbbed against his aching head. He took a deep, shaky inhale before yelling with all his strength.
"SHANE!!"
Shane stepped back, filled with joy, relief, and fear. There he was. Just a couple feet away. The only thing separating them was a door. He banged on the door, punching it and kicking it.
"RYAN!! RYAN IM HERE!!" he yelled.
Ryan laughed slightly, tearing up. He took shaky deep breaths. He wanted to say something but he couldn't. He just couldn't. Thankfully, Shane didn't need him to say anything.
He stopped, looking around for something he could use.
Every door has a lock.
He looked down, hopping to find a lock. And there it was, with the shape of a cross around it. He nodded to himself before speaking again.
"Ryan!! I'm gonna be right back!! Don't go anywhere!!"
Where exactly would I go, dumbass, Ryan thought to himself, smiling slightly.
Shane raced among the hallway, hopping to find something, anything. He finally got to the end of the hallway. There stood a huge door, pure white. Most of the doors were white but this one was different.
It radiated a different energy. It felt strange. The feeling sent chills down Shane's spine. He had a hunch that the key would most likely be in here.
He opened it, inside filled with multiple cross pendants, the kind Ryan had been wearing. The kind that bitch Sebastian took . He didn't know which one it was. It could've been any and he didn't have time to try them all. He touched some, hoping it would sting and be the right one. Almost none of them hurt, some stung but only a bit.
Losing hope, he began to get desperate. He tried to find then with a spell. No luck. The desperation finally turned into anger. He tore the pendants from the walls out of anger.
"I JUST WANT TO SAVE MY BEST FRIEND, ALRIGHT!? IS THAT SO HARD TO FUCKING ASK FOR!!" he yelled, tearing them from the walls.
"IT'S MY FAULT THIS HAPPENED!! DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO ME BUT LEAVE HIM OUT OF THIS!!"
He finally grabbed one, one which burned his skin. He yelled, pulling his hand away. He looked at it, smiling before he grabbed it, not caring if it burned him.
"Son of a bitch", he chuckled, running out of the room, his hand hissing the entire way as steam emitted from it.
He ran over to the door, put the cross inside and turned it. He walked inside. His heart lunged up and got stuck in his throat. Ryan was on the floor, marking around his wrists, legs and neck. Chain markings.
Shane rushed over to him, taking his face in his hands. He fought back tears and he looked upon his face. He looked so exhausted, tear marks on his face. Shane held him close.
"It's okay, Ry. I'm gonna make everything better. I promise", he said, rubbing his back and kissing his head slightly.
He took shaky breaths. Ryan opened his eyes slightly, looking at him.
"Better keep that promise, jackass", he said, smiling slightly.
Shane got out the med kit and reached inside. He pulled out a syringe. He looked at him, then back at the syringe.
"This is for your own good. Okay?"
Ryan nodded as Shane stuck the syringe in him. He winced as the golden liquid was put inside him. Shane stuck the syringe out and just threw it across the room.
"Can you stand? Or walk?"
Ryan shrugged. Shane didn't care if he could or couldn't. He was gonna carry him out of there even if it killed him. They locked eyes, the world stopping for even a brief moment. Shane put his hand on Ryan's cheek bringing him close. They closed their eyes, just sitting there with the comfort of each other.
The moment of sweetness would end quickly as sprinklers emerged from the ceiling. Water began raining down. The first drop touched Shane's shoulder, burning him. It was holy water. He yelled in pain, trying to shield himself.
Ryan could do nothing but watch. What could he do? Shane didn't care. He had to get Ryan out of here. He picked him up and began making his way to the door, his skin steaming and burning as the water rained down on him.
Ryan clung on tightly, his body aching with pain. Even with the medication in the syringe, he was still in pain. Shane continued on, putting one foot in front of the other. He could feel himself getting weaker and more tired but he knew whatever he was feeling was nothing compared to what Ryan was feeling.
Just.. A couple more feet..
He took deep, shaky breaths. He looked down, his sweat dripping. He noticed something red. It was his blood. He did his best to ignore it as he went on. What felt like just water to Ryan, felt like acid pouring down on Shane.
It felt like forever but Shane had finally reached the door. With one final yell he kicked the door open and walked through it. He didn't stop there. He knew he had to get away from the house. He climbed down the stairs, his clothes soaking.
He put Ryan down and collapsed onto the ground. Ryan went over to him as quickly as possible in his condition. He looked down at him smiling sadly.
"Shane.. You okay?"
Shane looked over at him, raising an eyebrow, breathing heavily.
"Just peachy", he panted.
There was a flash of light. Ryan's eyes shot wide open, almost falling off of the table. Shane jerked in a seat. Edgar looked over at him, slowly putting his Playboy magazine away. He cleared his throat, looking over at Ryan. Ryan quickly realized he didn't have a shirt on and tried to cover himself.
"Let me see"
"What!? No! Get away from me!"
"Let me see, you big baby!" yelled Edgar as he pryed his arms away.
He checked for any markings. He exhaled in relief. He looked over at Shane who was slumped over in his chair, panting.
"He's good. You really did it", he said, smiling slightly.
Shane nodded.
"Hell yeah I did that"
Edgar nodded, finding a new respect for the bastard who had him locked away as a joke. Maybe there was more to him than he seemed. He looked more closely, his smile quickly fading away.
Shane was bleeding, a lot. The hand that had carried the pendant was now red and burned, bleeding. It barely even looked like a hand. More like raw meat. Edgar grabbed some medical tape and walked over to him. As he reached for his hand, Shane flinched, pulling it away.
"Shane, I'm trying to help. Give me your hand"
Shane did as he was told, hesitantly but he did so. Edgar wrapped his hand in the medical tape. Ryan was just layed down, exhausted and light headed.
"Hey I don't mean to sound like an ass but could someone give me a shirt or something. It's fucking cold"
Shane looked over at him, smiling.
"Yeah don't worry. Just give me a second to patch up this idiot and I'll get to you in a second", Edgar said, not taking his eyes off of his task.
He finally finished wrapping his hand in the medical tape and went over to Ryan, giving him his shirt back.
"Thanks", he said, putting the shirt back on.
He rubbed his neck before stopping. He turned to Shane quickly, an expression of worry and anger across his face.
"Shane. Where is my pendant?"
Shane turned to him rubbing his head.
"What?" he asked.
"My pendant! Where is it dude?!"
Shane sighed.
"Yeah, okay. Well see here's the thing. Sebastian may or may not have taken it. It wasn't my fault but I'm just saying"
Ryan groaned, silently cursing.
"Of course. Of course! Of FUCKING course!! You'd have something to do with this!! Why? Because you're you!!!" he yelled.
"That's rude. It's true but rude"
Ryan was ready to smack Shane, and so he tried getting off of the table. Unfortunately, he stumbled to the ground, Edgar quickly rushing over to him and helping him up. He looked over at him, giving him a silent 'thank you' before glaring over at Shane.
Shane stood up, ignoring the slight pain.
"Listen, alright. I've had a rough day and-"
"Oh, yOU'VE HAD A ROUGH DAY?!"
Edgar slowly walked away, going back onto his chair. Ryan stormed over to him. Shane stood up from his chair, looking down at Ryan.
"You know. I don't even know why I trusted you. I could've been back at home, going on with my life. Instead, I'm here. In. HELL! WITH A DEMON WHO I'VE JUST DECIDED TO TRUST!!" he yelled.
"Ryan-"
"NO! NO! DONT SAY A SINGLE WORD! ALRIGHT? I'M FUCKING ANGRY AT YOU AND I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE ANGRY! I COULD'VE DIED AND WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE?! NOTHING!"
Shane didn't say anything. He really fucked up. He wanted to make things better but he didn't know how. He couldn't even begin to understand how scared Ryan must feel. All because he didn't want to be alone anymore. Sure he had his other "friends" but what he felt for Ryan was different.
"Ryan.."
"WHAT!?"
He looked down, not facing him.
"I'll take you back home. Tomorrow. Right now I have other things to do. You'll never have to see me ever again and that'll be that. But until then.."
Shane began to walk away. Ryan was speechless.
"You'll stay here. And that's that"
And with those words, he walked away. Ryan walked after him however, when opening the door, he was gone. He looked around but could find nothing as to where he could've gone. He turned around to go back inside but the closet was gone as well.

He turned back around hoping to find someone. Anyone.

But there was no one.

He was all
