If I Had You

Cole x Kai

Kai was watching as Lloyd, Cole, and Jay tried to beat each other in a video game. The game was called... well, Kai didn't remember or care, so he didn't know why he was trying to remember.

Maybe it was to get his mind off of him.

No, not his little 'brother' Lloyd. The other one. The raven-haired, definitely-not-emo, brown-eyed boy.

Yes, the Earth ninja.

Kai studied his features from the couch. His hair was combed down but stuck up in places that refused to go down. His face, from what Kai could see, looked determined to beat both Lloyd and Jay, but an obvious sparkle of absolute... fun, probably, made his chocolate eyes glimmer.

Ever since Kai first got on the team, he had fallen in love with the slightly older teen. Love at first sight, Jay had said when he told him about his crush. He didn't know why everyone thought he had fallen in love with Skylor. Well, he had, but a conflict between them set the flame out, leaving a burnt match. So, when he went back to going goo-goo eyes for Cole, he immediately knew he wouldn't have him, for he had found Seliel, but broke up with her. Conflict, he had said. Kai immediately knew that the Earth Master didn't want to be betrayed again and stopped dating.

Kai got up and walked away. Not because he was uncomfortable, which he wasn't, but the fact he wanted to get out of the suddenly-stuffy room, and sleep. The long day he had had finally caught up to him, taking a toll on the Fire Master. Before he went up, though, he grabbed a strawberry soda from the fridge. He popped it open and took a couple of sips. He dumped the rest in a plastic cup and propped it up in the fridge. That's when he went upstairs to his room to put on pajamas.

Once he was dressed in his fuzzy red pj's, he shut off his light and climbed into bed. He didn't toss and turn to get comfortable, and just laid on his left side.

If I had you, he thought after a minute or two. You would never have to worry about being left alone or betrayed.

Kai, being alone with his thoughts, suddenly realized that he didn't even like Skylor as a best girl friend, but only as a regular girl friend. He realized why he had been so heartbroken when he found out Cole wasn't going to be dating for a while.

He realized that he didn't just have a tiny crush on Cole.

He had a HUGE crush on the raven-haired teen.

He wanted to have him, and only him. Not Skylor, not Lloyd, not Jay.

Kai wanted Cole.

But he couldn't have him.

And he never would.
