Requester: Thundertalons
Pairing: Cole x Brooke
Other: I had this WHOLE thing planned out as soon as they got together. I'm such a loser. 😂 Also, a huge thank you to AmberMaster101 for letting me feature her OC in this!~°•~°•~
Four friends were sitting in a circle, all dressed in comfy clothes. They say on a soft, shaggy rug that felt like feathers under their fingertips. They were playing a game: Tell the Truth. The rules were simple; a player asks you a question, any question, and the victim is required to answer as truthfully as they can.
At that time, it was Amber's turn to ask Brooke a question. Brooke smirked comfortably; she believed she was as truthful as any 17-year-old could get!
Amber was deep in thought, trying to decide what question she really wanted answered. She already knew she wanted to ask a question involving Brooke and her partner's relationship, but she didn't know quite what she wanted answered.
That was when a brilliant question surfaced to her mind. She lifted her head, just enough to look her friend in the eyes. Brooke's eyes shone bravely.
"Bring on the question, Amber!" Brooke challenged, an obvious surge of energy passing through her spirit.
"Okay, then," Amber playfully growled. "State your true feelings for Cole!"
Both Amber and Brooke suppressed a chuckle as Cole straighted up to a full, proper posture, and his cheeks were dusted with a faint pink. He shuffled bashfully beside his partner, taking a sudden interest in his bandaged hand.
"Aww, now Cole, don't be so shy!" Brooke cooed teasingly. "I say I love you in front of these guys all the time! Why are you getting shy now?"
Cole refused to meet his girlfriend's eyes. "I know," he mumbled, voice lowered down so low that Brooke had to lean in in order to hear him. "It's just that... I'm afraid you're gonna be brutally honest and say that I'm annoying and too serious."
Brooke nearly flinched. She had a strong feeling Cole was going to say something about that rule. She felt bad for the older ninja; he was pretty sensitive, and he never liked others to be brutally honest. Just plainly honest was fine for him.
But, at the same time, being brutally honest was part of the game's rules! If someone was going to get butthurt because they played the game just to find out the truth, it was their own fault.
So, Brooke removed herself from the soft rug and climbed to her feet, no longer feeling any guilt or worry she would hurt her boyfriend's feelings. Since being brutally honest was the game's rules, and she was clean of almost all of the negative things that had happened during their one year together, there was practically nothing to worry about!
Before she started talking, she slipped her hand in her hoodie pocket and felt for the small white box she had stuffed in there. She twirled it around in her hand, admiring its soft exterior. Cole was so going to love his little surprise!
Her brother squirmed restlessly on her right side. "Hurry up, Brooke!" Jay huffed. "I'm ready to ask a question!"
"Alright, alright!" The dark-haired she rolled her eyes at her brother's impatient attitude. She gripped tighter onto the small box, looked down on her beautiful partner, and began to speak.
"Cole, yes, I do say this a lot, but I love you. I admire how you can be so badass, but also be so calm and loving. You can be such a big ol' teddy bear that'll snuggle you to death of he wanted to. And, yes, we do have our little - or big - faults, but that doesn't mean I love you any less. So Cole, all I want to say is I love you, and..."
Brooke held out a hand to help Cole up. He blinked in confusion, but took the hand and pressed to his feet. He stared at his partner, his gaze level to Brooke's.
The younger girl smiled and began to bend down on one knee. That was when the gasps of Jay and Amber started, and Cole was jerked into realization. He pressed his hands over his mouth, and yelled a muffled, "No!"
"I wanted to ask if you would-" Brooke slipped her hand out of her hoodie pocket, dragging the white box with it. She pulled open the box to show a small, silvery ring.
"-Marry me. So, wadda ya say, Cole? Wanna get married?"
Fat tears were rolling down Cole's cheeks by this moment. He attempted to say, "Yes" multiple times over, but he was always interrupted by hard sniffles. So he gave up and just nodded eagerly.
Brooke's smile spread wider across her face, and she stood up from her knee and took her new fiancee's hand in her own. She slipped the ring on his finger, and raveled him in the tightest hug she could possibly manage.
Jay, all signs of impatience gone, scrambled to his feet. His blue eyes glowed, filled to the brim with excitement. Amber, on the other hand, was squealing and rolling on the floor.
"I call being the flower boy!" Jay squeaked, hopping up and down like a small toddler.
Meanwhile, Amber still occupied the rug, squealing and rolling like a maniac.
