Forgotten Stars

I used to
Just sit and watch
The stars twinkle by

It was sad to think
That we only saw their light
Once they were gone

But I couldn't stop
Staring at them
Night after night

Even if they weren't giving light anymore
They still made me smile
They still helped me make my peace

It was from watching
The forgotten stars
That I realized
That not all things bright
Are here and now
