Chapter 15

Lauren's POV

*****3 weeks after the wake******
I was woken up by the sound of my mom banging on my door to wake me up. "Lauren get ready you have a doctors appointment in 40 minutes!" yay doctor, needles funnn.

I reluctantly got out of bed and put on my leggings and Northeastern collage sweatshirt. I walked into my bathroom and put my hair in a messy bun and brushed my teeth and put my retainer in. I walked downstairs and put my black vans on and walked out the door to the car. As I got in the car it was just me and my mom. My sister was at school, my dad was at work, and my brother, well you know what happened.

We arrived at the doctors office and waited for my name to be called. "Good morning my name is Dr. Martin. If you could roll up ur sleeve that would be great." I already knew I was here for shots and bloodwork I just didn't like the idea of it. She stuck the needle in my arm for the blood and I watched the liquid form of me go up the little tube.

The lady left the room to go run my blood through some tests, whatever that's not weird at all. She came back about 20 minutes later wit a worried look on her face. "Ms. Jonstone you and your daughter are going to have to be taken to the hospital. Something is abnormal with the test results. We think it might be cancer." What! Cancer.

We got to the hospital and my mom rushed me in. She ran up to the room and said Lauren Jonstone an she told us to go to the room I was going to be in for a day or so. I laid down on the bed and waited for the doctors to come in, which was about 5 minutes. When they came they told me to stay still they were putting more needles in me yayy.

"Ms. Jonstone, we have the test results. She has an early stage of a blood cancer. We are going to be very aggressive with treatment and hope that, that will be enough to get rid of it. We will do the best we can to make sure Lauren makes it. You are free to leave but we need to have Lauren once a week for chemo therapy." the doctor said. He unattached the IVs from my arms and lead me to the door.

The car ride home was silent. I have been going from 7:00 in the morning it is now 2:45. Hayes gets home from school in a half hour. I knew Hayes wouldn't be home so that's why as soon as we got to the house I ran to the Griers. Nash answered the door. "Hey Lau, aren't you supposed to be in school?" he asked

"Yeah but I had a doctors appointment this morning and I had to go to the hospital." I answered

"What! Lauren why! Why were you at the hospital!"

"Nash. They found cancer in my blood. I am 16 years old and have fucking cancer." tears were streaming down my face and his as soon as the word 'cancer' came out of my mouth.

He pulled me into a hug and invited me inside.

"I know what will get your mind off that. You could do an #asklauren. I'm tweeting about it!" as he said he would he tweeter about it and so did I.

This question is from @laurennoticemeomggg: 'what are you afraid of' That's a good question and you forgot thequestionmark buuut I'm afraid of dying. I know that sounds really weird but I had a doctors appointment today and I have stage one leukemia. Soo im afraid of dying. I know that sounds weird that I'm really open about it but trust me it's not easy but I found out today and it's still processing in my mind so that is why i seem so nonchalant about it but i'm honestly terrified but anyway...

The video went on like this for another like 4 minutes before we ended it and started editing. We made the title 'Why I'm afraid of dying' and put the cover of me when I pointed up and screamed NEXT QUESTION!

By the time we finished Hayes was home and all I could think was

'it's now or never Lauren, you have to tell him.'
