Days in Neverland: 2

When I went to Arkansas with my uncle, my favorite thing to do was hunt. We would hunt more often than we did anything else, which says something, since we did a lot of things. So I'm a little surprised that I didn't actually hunt - But the curiosity was too much to bear.

I used my map to find my way back to the location where I first woke up on Neverland. I failed to mention that I had seen something behind the bushes of thorns when I had looked for a way down. I eventually found my way back to the cliff, and was careful while going between the thorn bushes. I emerged on the bluff without a single scratch and looked around carefully for what I had seen the other day.

"Looking for something?" asked a familiar British accent. I turned to look at him, and I instantly noticed his hood was up, but not enough to shadow his annoyingly breathtaking features.

"I just saw something yesterday. I wanted to check it out."

"What, this?" he asked, taking a step to his left and pointing behind him.

That was it! The thing I had seen the day before! But what exactly was it? "Yes.... How did you know?"

He shrugged. "I just know things."

I took a few steps closer. "What is it?"

"Would you like to see?" he asked, and I looked at him. I nodded a little and he held out his hand. I stared at it for a moment and then hesitantly took it.

I had never held a boy's hand before. It gave me goosebumps.

"Hold on," he told me as I suddenly felt my feet leave the ground. I looked down, gasped, gripped Pan's hand until my knuckles went white, and moved my free hand to grip his upper arm just as tight. He chuckled. "Don't hurt yourself."

We hovered a foot or two over the bush and descended behind it. I released him as soon as my feet touched the ground. A huge grin suddenly tugged the corners of my mouth up, and I turned to him. "That was awesome."

"Of course it was," he said proudly, crossing his arms over his chest and pushing it out under them. "That's because I'm awesome." I shoved him playfully and turned to find what I was so desperately curious about.

It was a willow tree that had caught my eye. The only one I had seen on the island. Now I saw that under the tree was a small pond. A beautiful pond, that shimmered and glinted in the sunlight. It was absolutely beautiful. My jaw was grazing the ground and my eyes were extremely dry. I was afraid to blink, thinking the scene would disappear if I did. I heard Pan chuckle behind me, but I paid no attention to him. I wanted so bad to touch the water - to see if it was real. I stumbled forward a few steps and bent down in front of it, grazing my fingers with the cool water. It wasn't necessarily cold, but it wasn't that warm, either. It was like the perfect temperature, the perfect in-between of hot and cold.

"Don't drink it," Pan told me as he came to stand beside me. "You'll be bound to Neverland forever, and your body back home will disappear."

"Where would it go?"

"It wouldn't appear here. It would appear in a wasteland, one that resembles this place. If you woke up there, you would surely die."

I nodded, and took my fingers out of the water, standing wiping them on my jeans. I looked up at the position of the sun to see that I still had a few hours. "Well, I should probably go hunt or something." He nodded and offered me his hand again. I took it and let him lead me back to the bushes and we flew back over them. I couldn't help letting out a small (yet annoying, even to me) giggle.
