Can't let you off with a cliffhanger, so here's a third chapter :P
There's a very thin line between bravery and stupidity.
I am - obviously - that line.
Jonathan and Mikah were huddled together behind me. I stood about six inches from them. Mikah's hand found mine and gripped it tightly. I gave it a reassuring squeeze. A branch snapped behind us, making both Jonathan and Mikah jump and get behind me as I turned. I released Mikah's hand and raised my sword. "Whatever's out there, show yourself."
Silence.
"Show yourself now!"
I heard a weak nicker and a white horse head poked out of the brush. There was a spiral horn right in the middle of its forehead. My friends jumped, but I sighed in relief. "Sanchez, you scared me." He nickered again and stepped all the way into the light. His tail flicked and he snorted.
I handed Jonathan the sword without turning around and hugged the horse's neck. I heard footsteps behind me and turned to see an extremely annoyed Pan. He sheathed his sword angrily and snatched his other sword from a still-shocked Jonathan, sheathing that one as well. "Damn you, Horse. Just be glad it's my girlfriend's birthday today. Otherwise I'd cut your head clean off." I couldn't help laughing as Sanchez whinnied. I could almost hear him telling Pan he "just wanted to check out the party."
"Come here," he ordered me and I released Sanchez's neck. I came to Pan's side and he wrapped his arm around my waist. He kissed my forehead.
I pouted. "Would you really kill the last unicorn on the island?" I asked, my lower lip pushed out.
He smirked and kissed my forehead again. "Yes." I rolled my eyes and we all went back to the center of the clearing.
Sanchez just hung around for a few minutes, then nuzzled his head into my side (scaring the living daylights out of me) and left. I was sad to see him go. Pan lifted me onto his boots once again and we began to sway back and forth.
"Now, be honest," he whispered into my ear after a few minutes, "what do you want for your birthday?"
I thought for a moment, then shrugged. "I don't know."
He scoffed. "Every girl knows what they want for their birthday."
"Well I hate to burst your bubble, but I'm not every girl."
He smirked. "That is definitely true."
I closed my eyes and hugged him closer. "The truth is, I have no clue what I want for my birthday. I hoped you would forget about it or something."
He laughed. "You know me better than that."
I laughed, too. "Yeah. But I still hoped."
Neither of us spoke for a minute. Eventually Mikah and Jonathan approached us, told us they "had something to do" and left. When I could no longer hear their voices or steps, I laughed. "More like someone." I muttered. He laughed too. He sounded kind of tired.
"Are you done?" I whispered, and was a bit surprised by how tired I sounded, too.
"Nope," he smirked. "But you sound like you are." I yawned and nodded against his shoulder. He lifted me off his shoes, kissed me once, and set me down, telling me to go wait for him in my tent. I nodded again and he kissed me again, told me that I looked beautiful tonight, and let me go. I went back to my tent and pulled my boots off. I pulled my pants off, too. Let my hair down. It was still straighter-than-straight. I was too sleepy to change back into my shirt.
I had fallen asleep. A few minutes later I was vaguely aware that Pan had climbed into my bed next to me. He kissed my cheek and I snuggled into his chest. "You didn't change out of your dress," he told me.
"How observant," I mumbled. "I'm so tired."
"I know, darling. I know."
I opened my eyes a bit. "What are you thinking so hard about?" I whispered, my hand going to his cheek.
He hummed. "Oh, nothing."
I made him look at me. "No. I know nothing when I see it. I can also see when you're lying."
He sighed and his hand slipped down to my leg, pulling it over his own. It was then that I realized that he wasn't wearing any pants.
I knew what that meant. It meant he wanted me.
He began to kiss me. Slow, at first, then he began to get more desperate. I peeled his shirt off as he climbed on top of me. His hands slid up my legs and rested on the scars on the inside of my thighs. My hands desperately gripped his hair. His hips began to grind against mine. My hips mirrored the movement. Our legs were tangled together. Our lips never came apart, even as he flipped us over so that I was on top.
After another few minutes of kissing he pulled away. "What?" I whined. "You're planning on keeping me up all night, aren't you?"
"Yes. But it's your birthday."
I just blinked a few times.
"Seeing as how today is your day, I will let you do whatever you want."
I still didn't really react. I didn't understand what he was saying. "What do you mean?"
He smirked and pulled me closer to him. "I'll let you do whatever you want to me," he whispered, searching my eyes.
I shook my head. "But what if I don't want to do anything?" He frowned, so I explained. "What if I want you to do everything?"
He smirked. "That sounds... good. But it might get a bit dirty."
I sighed. "Peter Pan, you are always dirty. I'm used to it by now."
He nodded and his hand was suddenly on my butt. "If this is too fast for you," he whispered, "tell me at once." I nodded. He could tell I was nervous and moved his hand off my butt to my back. His other hand went to my cheek. "Do you trust me?" I didn't hesitate to nod and he began to kiss me.
He didn't unzip my dress, just in case you were wondering.
