Melrose Pov
Scowling at the person standing in the door of Raine's office, my stomach turned at the sight of her and I wanted to rid myself from her once and for all. She stood there quietly with her arms folded over her chest, smiling as if she knows her presence is unwanted. I just didn't understand why she couldn't find anything better to do rather intrude on my life. This woman has two businesses going for herself, yet she finds time to worry about nothing that concerns her.
"What do you want Bailey?" I queried, breaking the silence.
"You're not deaf, Melrose. A little dim but certainly not deaf. Not with those ears, hanging from the side of your head." She insulted my appearance.
"Classic Bailey, insulting someone's physical appearance when she has nothing else to do. Pathetic." I shook my head, sitting back in my seat, my eyes staying glued to her.
"I'm calling security." I heard Raine say and the dial tone followed shortly after.
With fear in her eyes, she walked further into the room. "No, wait! What are you doing that for? I'm not a threat to anybody. I just want to talk."
"Then talk bitch." The longer she stood there, I grew irritated having to breath the same oxygen as her.
Her gaze on me hardened and I sensed she wanted to get physical with me but Raine would never let her lay a finger on me. "Say whatever it is you have to say B and leave." He spoke up, annoyance laced in his voice as well."
"I just came to make amends you with, Raine. I didn't know she was going to be here, but I guess I can put my childish ways to the side and bury the hatchet with her too." Neither Raine or myself believed her, so we sat there quietly, not moved by anything spewing from her mouth. She couldn't take herself seriously either because she was unable to keep a straight face. Falling into a fit of laughter, Bailey leaned over, using her sharp knees for support. "Ok, ok, that was even beyond myself. I wasn't convinced in the slightest."
"Raine call security because I'm so over this pest." I demanded in an exasperated tone. At this point I wasn't mad; I was tired of the foolishness she displayed.
"Hold on one second before you do that Raine." He stopped pressing buttons and looked at her, waiting to see what she really wanted. "Look, I came here to see if I can fix things with you. I had no idea this one would be here today, but you know what, it doesn't matter. She doesn't matter to me, so I'm here asking you to forgive me for all I've done, including the past and give me another chance. I'll be a great step mother to your child."
Before Raine could respond, I opened my mouth to speak first. "You've lost your damn mind if you think you're about to play step mom to my child. I'll take my chances with Jared Fogle before I let you anywhere near my child. Bailey, I have never met anyone as dull-witted as you are and I pray to the heavens above it stops here with you. After all you have done to Raine, to me, do you really think he wants to deal with you? Better yet, let you near our child. This little visit proves you have nothing to do with your life and you will do just about anything to get close to Raine. Things that are far fetched, even for you."
"Why are you speaking? I'm talking to him. He can speak for himself." She snapped. I must have hit a nerve.
"Mel is right though, B. I wouldn't risk my child being around you and I most certainly don't want to rekindle any type of relationship that involves you. This little visit was a waste of time, but you already knew that. Please excuse yourself Bailey."
By now she was fuming excessively, if I'd had a magnifying glass, I would see steam coming from her head. Turning on her heels, she strutted towards the door but suddenly stopped and turned around with her signature smirk on display. "How did you like the little gift I gave you?"
