"Mel, wake up, baby." Raine shook her lightly. "We're here.""I don't feel good." She mumbled, turning her head the other way.
"You can lay down when we get to the room. Come on."
Huffing loudly, Mel sluggishly picked her body up off the bed. She looked at the bedside clock and it was only eight at night. She'd slept the entire three hours to Dallas, yet she felt like it wasn't enough. When she made it to the front of the jet, everyone was walking down out the door and down the stairs. Just leave me here, she thought, rolling her eyes and falling into place behind Raine. The instant she stepped foot on the ground, hot humid air slapped her in the face.
"I could've stayed in Florida for this." She mumbled, heading in the direction of the stretch limousine. She wasn't going to help anybody with anything, not tonight. Her body wouldn't let her. Nausea and headaches have been torturing Melrose for two unremitting days. She even puked a few times. How she would get through the weekend? That is a mystery.
Kelsi was next to get in with her kids and Venus with the twins talking gibberish in their car seats. Mel wasn't ignoring them, but she didn't feel up to conversing with anyone and they all understood. Hopefully by tomorrow, this sickness will pass over, so she can enjoy her family.
Once everyone was settled in the vehicle, Raine popped a bottle of champagne open, passing glasses around for everyone. He tried to give Mel one, but she declined.
"Got any pain pills in here?" She asked, holding her head.
"No, but we can stop by a convenient store and pick some up." He responded, pulling her closer to him. Laying her head on his chest, she closed her eyes again, trying to block out the pain.
"You need to go to the emergency." Venus voiced from the opposite end of the car. "You've had this headache for a few days now, sweetheart."
Mel declined that also. "I'll be fine."
"Don't worry, mama. She's going in the morning." Mel sucked her teeth, glaring at him in annoyance. Raine stared down at her with a stern look on his face as to say try me. "Yeah, I said it. You got something to say about it?"
Instead of engaging in a tic for tac battle that she knows she wouldn't win, she remained quiet and faced forward again. Kelsi sat across from them, snickering behind her hand.
"Stop laughing." Chris scolded her, causing her to gain composure quickly.
The ride to the hotel seemed to take forever since rush hour traffic was calming to an end. The crew reached the Omni Dallas Hotel an hour later and exited the limousine. Chris and Venus weren't staying here since they'd be spending the weekend at his mother's house. Venus wasn't a stranger to his family. She and Chris have visited Texas since they've reconnected and everyone welcomed her with open arms just as they've done years ago.
