I apologize for being absent lately. I had a serious case of writers block with so much I wanted to include in this chapter, but having no idea how to word it, so that was one reason for the delay. Also, my birthday was Thursday. Woohoo, #AriesGang here. So I took time off to celebrate that as well. Anyways, the next chapter will be the last and final chapter to Black Rose guys.
A waste of time! A waste of fucking time! Mel thought as she watched the news from their hotel in Dallas. As everyone predicted, the storm headed in their direction caused extreme damage to southern Florida and some parts of northern Florida. Miami and Naples were hit the hardest, causing major flooding, houses blown away and being forced to stake out on the upper levels of the house. Water rose up to fifteen feet in she and Raine's home. Thankfully, it took an hour or two before it happened, giving them time to move food and drinks to the attic. With the connections Raine had, the family was airlifted out of the house in three hours top and flown back to Dallas for safety.
The storm happened two weeks ago and they still hadn't been cleared to fly back home. To make matters worse, Lydia had called Mel earlier, telling her the bad news she already knew. The Country Club was completely underwater since it sat near the river bank. Everything she ordered had been placed on hold until further notice. Her wedding dress, Raine's tuxedo and the twins clothes were back in Florida, probably floating down Bel Air Drive.
Tomorrow is supposed to be the most magical happiest night of her life, yet she sat in a hotel room moping around. Chris had come down to check on his family and offer support to both of his daughters since each of them were going through hard times of their own. He avoided any interaction with Venus since she still makes it clear, he was irrelevant to her. He wished she'd stop being stubborn and let him tell his side of the story, but it didn't look to be happening anytime soon, if at all.
Kelsi had finally apologized to Melrose for her insensitive behavior and bad attitude towards her. Although it took a while for her to own her wrongdoing, Mel accepted the apology and they were back like nothing ever occurred.
Laying across the bed, Mel muted the tv and stared out the floor to ceiling window that provided a beautiful view of downtown. The door opened and Raine walked in holding a tray of cut fruits and a glass of wine. His feelings were hurt by the unfortunate situation as well, but he knew how deeply it affected his fiancée and how hard she worked to pull tomorrow off, only for it to not happen.
"I brought you something, I thought you'd enjoy." He sat down on the side of the bed, placing the tray on the bedside table. "It's not much, but I know you love your fruits and white wine."
Mustering up a small smile, Mel sat up, resting her back against the headboard. "It's the thought that counts, so thank you, baby." She grabbed a strawberry from the platter, popping it in her mouth.
"How are you feeling?" He queried. "I mean I know you don't feel good about it but tell me what's going on in that head of yours."
She shrugged, fiddling with her fingers. "I've had two weeks to come to terms with our predicament and my heart still hurts. I put my blood, swear and tears into our wedding preparation, only for it to end like this the day before. I wanna question God so badly, but I know better than to try that again."
"We don't have to rush into a wedding so soon. Whether we got married on Bella's birthday or any other day, it would've been just as special to me. And she'll always be included in what we do because she's in our hearts."
"Yeah, I know." Mel wiped the corner of her eyes, catching the tears daring to fall. "It feels like we did everything for nothing, but I'll be alright. What about you? How do you feel?"
