Omniscient
What's done in the dark will come to the light. Raine couldn't tell you how many times he's heard that saying in his life, but it's most definitely one of the truest quotes he's heard. The day, he'd been dreading had come and Raine thought he was gonna crap his pants the closer he got to Melrose's door. Since the break of dawn, his loose bowels has been keeping him in the bathroom due to his nerves getting the best of him. Today is the day he would lay everything out on the table and he didn't know what to expect from Melrose. She can either be understanding and find it in her heart to forgive him or she can go bat shit loco and beat him to death. It all depended on what particular mood she'd be in.
He knocked on her door, goose bumps covering his exposed arms as he waited for her to answer it. Besides his mother, Raine doesn't think he's ever been this afraid of having a confrontation with a woman about his wrongdoings. But at some point he knew this conversation was mandatory in order to start the process of getting in Melrose's good graces once more. A few minutes passed and she had yet to come to the door so he knocked again, only this time harder in case she was shut off in her room.
"Coming!" She yelled, jogging to open the door while holding her towel close to her body as she had just gotten out of the shower. It had totally slipped her mind that Raine was coming over today, so this was going to be awkward, especially after their last incident here. Swinging the door open, Raine quickly lowered his eye once he saw she was barely covered.
"Uh, I can wait out here until you get dressed." He said, turning his back towards her. She had completely caught him off guard answering the door like that.
"Come in and wait up front. I'll be right back." She left him standing there while she went to her room. Melrose shuffled through the pile of laundry sitting on the floor in the corner of her room. She hasn't had the time to fold and put them where they belong so her apartment is in a slight mess. Successfully finding an outfit and undergarments, she quickly got dressed and applied deodorant underneath her arms. Her untamed hair and ashy limbs could wait. Reaching the living room, she didn't see Raine anywhere but the front door was still ajar. Sighing lowly, she opened the door, only for her face to meet his back. "Raine, really?"
He turned around and shrugged. "I told you I'd wait out here."
"Yeah, I know, but I didn't think you'd actually do it. Come in." Stepping to the side, he walked past her and took a seat on the love chair. He frowned, seeing all the trash and pieces of clothes scattered about the area. He wondered what was going on for her to leave her house in this condition. Raine knew Melrose never liked being in an unkempt environment so this is strangely weird. She saw the look on his face and knew exactly what he was thinking. "I've been tied up with work. Trust me, I'm clearing the entire day tomorrow to clean up."
"I didn't even say anything though." He said, not wanting to offend her.
"But you were thinking it." She pointed at him, sitting across from him. "The expression on your face said it all."
He nodded, not knowing how to respond. "Oh."
Clasping her hands together, she leaned back against the chair. "Sooooo, about this conversation we're supposed to be having, I would like to speak first. If that's alright with you." She added.
"Go ahead."
"Let me be honest and say that I'm strictly doing this because I feel terrible and my conscious has been driving me insane since it happened. If I don't do this, I'll never let up on myself." She had to let him know, she wasn't apologizing for playing him, but because she wanted a clear conscious. Melrose was doing this for her. "I'm sorry that I tricked you into giving me oral that night. I knew what I was doing when I insisted we play that game because it was apart of my plan I conjured up. After seeing those pictures, I had gotten fed up with the lies from you and at that moment revenge was all I wanted. You continued to hide secrets from me after I've done nothing but keep it a hundred percent authentic with you and I thought you deserved to experience how it feels to be used and abused. However, it wasn't the correct way to go about addressing the situation and deep down inside I knew it but I didn't care. Truly, I never want anyone to feel the pain of being mistreated. You know I've personally been a target of that and it's the worst emotion a person could experience, so for that I'm deeply sorry. That's not the type of person I am."
