Once we got out of the taxi at JFK, Zane got mine, his, and Tati's bags out. We walked into the airport after tipping the taxi driver and it hit me what we were doing. Tatiana was about to move in with us for who knows how long. I rolled my eyes to myself, and walked through the airport to check in.
"Hello, checking in?" the man at the counter asked. "Yeah, I have the tickets on my phone," Zane said, digging in his pockets. After we all showed our ID's and checked our bags we were on our way to TSA and our gate.
Once we got passed security and to our gate I sat without a word to either Tati or Zane. I put my headphones on and brought my knees to my chest. I played the song STAR by Brockhampton and went to the safari app. I typed in my community college's grade book portal. I logged on and checked my grades. Since I only had school twice a week I didn't miss school this week. I'm not looking forward to doing my accounting homework when I got home though.
PRINCIPAL OF ACCOUNTING: 75%
INTRODUCTION TO MATHEMATICS: 83%
INTRODUCTION TO LITERATURE: 92%
MARKETING AND MANAGEMENT: 85%
I swiped out of all of my apps except spotify, and laid back in the dirty, uncomfortable JFK chairs. I flipped my hood on, and laid to the side and closed my eyes. What a fuckin' day.
I don't know how long I was sleeping but I was woken up by Zane taking my headphone out. "We're boarding," he said, in a innocent tone. I looked up at him and rubbed my eyes. I grabbed my purse from the ground and stood up walking ahead of the two.
We boarded, and I sat by the window, Zane sat next to me, and Tati sat on the end. Once Zane sat and got situated, he put his hand on my thigh. I looked at his big hand then followed it up to his face looking down at me. I could feel the tears starting to rise in my eyes, and he removed his hand from my thigh, and pulled my head to his shoulder. I squeezed my eyes shut and wrapped my arms around his arm. I quietly sobbed on his shoulder. "Shh," he hummed softly. I felt him kiss the top of my head as my body shook. "It's okay," he said, low and soft in my ear. Zane moved the arm rest and I inched closer to him and he held me while I cried on the plane.
"God," I said, opening my eyes, and wiping my tears away. "God," I choked up. "I hate her," I muttered. Zane held my hand. "I know you do, baby," he said, giving me kind eyes.
"I'm sorry for being a brat earlier," I gushed. "No, you weren't being a brat," he moved my loose hair from my face. "You had a reason to be upset," he kissed my forehead.
"Can I get you guys anything to drink?" the flight attendant asked, rolling her cart up to us. "Vodka," Zane and I said at the same time.
She laughed, and handed us two little bottles of vodka. "Do you want anything with tha-" the flight attendant was cut off by me opening the bottle, and chugging it. It sent a shiver down my spine, and I looked up. "Can I get another, and a glass of Chardonnay?" I asked. She looked disgusted, and handed me another bottle, and got a bottle of wine from under the cart. She poured me a glass and handed it to me.
"Anything for you?" she asked Tati. "Water, please,"
I opened the other vodka bottle and chugged that too, chasing it with wine. I composed myself, and laid my head on Zane's shoulder. He held my hand, and kissed my head. "You're gonna be okay," he said. I looked up and gave him a small smile. He kissed me softly, and I dug my head into his shoulder.
"Guys!" Tati announced.
Zane and I looked over at her. "My aunt that lives in San Diego is offering me her spare room," she said excitedly.
I looked at Zane and at her. "That's great!" I said a little too excited. "Wow that's awesome!" Zane smiled, elbowing me in the ribs. "Ow," I breathed. "Is she gonna be pissed you're knocked up," I asked.
"I hope not. She's pretty cool. She is estranged from my family so,"
"I'm never getting pregnant," I said looking at her, then looking at Zane.
"I'm never getting pregnant," I reiterated. Zane laughed, and looked back at Tati.
"Yeah okay," Tatiana said, rolling her eyes. "What?" I questioned, mildly annoyed.
"All you used to talk about when we were little was how much you want kids," she exposed.
I rolled my eyes, and laid my head on Zane's shoulder again.
Tati put her headphones in and scrolled through her twitter.
"Never, huh?" Zane asked.
"Never,"
"Hm,"
"What?"
"I thought you wanted kids," he said. "Well- I- I wouldn't be mad about it but-" I backtracked.
He smiled, and laid his head back.
When we took off Zane held my hand tightly. He's always so nervous on planes.
He shut his eyes and once we were in the sky, he opened his eyes. I patted his thigh and he released a sigh of relief.
