I forgot how cold it gets at night here in Boston. I drove for a while aimlessly before I remembered I could always go to see someone.
I took many twists and turns but nothing looks the same at night. I started to get frustrated and I hit my steering wheel with my palm.
I glanced at my phone when it vibrated.
Z: You there?I grabbed my phone while i was driving, and hit the call button next to Zane's name. "Hey, I thought a man with a beer guy swooped you up," he said. I laughed lightly. "No, just trying to avoid my family at all costs," I said. "What are you doing?" his voice was groggy. "Trying to remember where my friend lives but I can't" I said starting to shed frustrated tears.
"Hey, hey, hey," he said concerned.
"My mom ruined this trip for me- She invited my ex boyfriend- and-and," I sobbed over the phone. "Hey Bryn, breathe," he said.
"I saw him and panicked and I ran into my room- and cried for like an hour-" I basically scream cried.
"Bryn-"
"And my best friend was their but i didn't even say anything to her,"
"Bryn!" he yelled.
I shut up really quick.
"It's okay. Tomorrow is a new day," he said. "Just take a deep breath," he said. I took a deep breath, and focused on the road. "I want to come home already," I said. He sighed. "Just know when you get back, you have open arms ready to hug you," he said. I smiled through my tears and kept driving and turned down a familiar looking road. I kept turning down streets, listening to Zane talk about how his day was, and how much he loves dogs.
I finally saw the yellow VW van in the driveway of my friend's house. "I think I found my friend's house," I said, parking my car, but not getting out. "Okay, I'll let you go then," he said. "I'll text you," I said, leaning on the door with the phone to my ear. "Okay,"
"Okay,"
He laughed.
"Have fun with your friends," he said. I smiled to myself. "Bye,"
"Bye Bryn,"
I hung up the phone, and got out of the car, opened the gate, and walked up to the door.
I knocked on the wooden door, and stepped back. I looked at my watch and it said 7:42.
The door opened, and there stood a small, tattooed woman with a huge baby bump. "Bryn?" She said furrowing her eyebrows and wrapping her sweater around her body. I smiled. "Hey Sammy," I said. She smiled once she realized it was me.
"Holy shit, Micah!" she yelled through the house as she pulled me in to hug me. My tall body leaned over and hugged her 5'1" stance. "I thought you were in LA?!" she smiled. Her long black hair was tied in a messy bun and all the piercings she once had in her face were gone.
"Come in, come in!" she said. I walked in, and I heard Micah run up the stairs from the basement. His tall body emerged from the door, along with someone I wasn't expecting to see.
His best friend Alex who I used to date in high school (before Andrew was forced upon me) followed.
"What is up with me seeing all my ex's today" I thought to myself as I smiled at the both of them.
"Hey kid!" Micah said, hugging me tightly. He was almost 6'5", bearded, and smoked weed 24/7. Even works at a dispensary.
I looked at Alex, and remembered why I dated him.
He has high cheek bones, and long curly hair that was typically tied in a bun. His eyebrows were prominent, and freckles were splattered all over his face. When he smiled, his white teeth literally glowed. He got signed with a skateboard company and started traveling and so we just ended things mutually.
He smiled at me, and then looked down. "Hey Bryn," he said. I smiled at him, and hugged him. He smelled like cigarettes and cologne. "What happened to LA?" Sammy asked, pulling me to the couch.
Sammy and Micah were seniors when I was a freshman, and Alex was a junior when I was a freshman. Sammy and Micah really guided me (and got me drunk at parties) in high school. Once I spoke with them for a little over an hour, Sammy became exhausted probably from being pregnant.
"I'll walk you out," Alex said. "I have to go anyways," he said. We said our goodbyes, and Alex walked me to my Jeep. "You look really good," he said, as we walked down the long path way to the gate. "Thanks," I smiled. "So do you,"
Alex opened the gate, and I walked out as he followed close behind. "You still have that deal with Thrasher?" I asked. He smiled. "Yeah,"
We were both quiet for a while once we got to my jeep. He looked me up and down, then leaned in really close, putting one hand on the top of my jeep and one hand on my hip.
I looked at his lips, then up to his big, brown eyes. He was so close that our noses touched.
Then all of a sudden, he kissed me hard.
In between heavy breathing, I got the back car door open, and i laid in the back as he piled in and slammed the door.
He unbuckled his belt, and pulled down my leggings. He kissed my thighs as he hoisted them up on his shoulders.
I started thinking about Zane, and how great of a guy he is.
I shouldn't fuck this up too.
"Hey, Alex, stop," I said, slipping my legs off his shoulders. He looked at me with disappointment. "I'm sorry," I said, pulling my leggings back up. He laughed, uncomfortably as he buckled his belt back up. "I shouldn't do this either," he said. I honestly didn't want to know if he had a wife, or a kid at home, so I didn't ask. He got out of the car, and I hopped in the front seat, and headed back to my house.
