Teenage Dreams (Harry Styles AU)

-Chapter 5

Carter's POV:

       Today's Halloween! Samantha is incredibly excited and she won't stop hopping up and down and screaming and talking about how happy she is. It's been about three weeks since Harry took Sammy and I to the aquarium so Sam is really excited to see him today although she has seen Harry plenty in the past few weeks. I can honestly say that Sam and Harry have been getting extremely close, like they've become the best of friends. Sammy's birthday is approaching quickly and yet she's still more excited for today than anything else. 

         Harry and I are still just friends, of course... but we did have a quick chat where we discussed that we do definitely have potential. It was getting darker outside quick so I began helping Sammy into her costume. I had just got both of her arms through the sleeves when the door bell rang. I stood up from my knelt down position in front of Sam and ran to get the door. My eyes met a stunning pair of green ones as I opened the door. "Hi Harry!" I spoke cheerily as I pulled him in for a hug. Harry gives my body a light squeeze before we pull apart and go search for Samantha.

       We walk into the front room to find that Samantha had finished dressing herself. "Wow! You look great, Samantha!" Harry spoke with excitement. He was right she really did look great. Sammy was going as an angel for Halloween and she looked absolutely adorable. "Beautiful!" Harry compliments her once more before lifting her up off the ground and pulling her in for a hug. Harry spins her around in a circle and places a kiss to her cheek once he stops making her giggle. I smile at my baby girl and the handsome man I have a crush on. 

     After a little while it's dark enough to go out trick-or-treating so we leave. I couldn't wait until it's pitch black out because then it would be past Sam's bed time. Harry, Sam and I go out for a bit and collect Sam's candy and have fun, but it soon approaches Sam's bed time so we head back to our house. Sammy is already exhausted before we even get home. "Hey Carter, could we go to my apartment as the last place?" Harry asks me as he carries Sam's tired body in his arms. I hesitate but say ok. I guess we can make one more stop. 

     Once we get back to my house Harry puts Sammy into her car seat and tries to buckle her in but fails as he can't figure out how it works. I giggle at him as I buckle her up and then we drive the short distance to Harry's apartment. Sam is a little bit more awake when we get there and knock on Harry and Zayn's door. Zayn answers it and Sam quickly runs to him and hugs his legs. Sam was clearly very happy to see Zayn. I found out about Sammy and Zayn's connection within the past week but I guess I just didn't think they were that close.

      We all go into the boys apartment and hang out in the living room until Sammy falls asleep on Harry's chest. "So, Carter is anything going on between you and Liam?" Zayn asked me out of the blue. "No." I speak in a confident voice because it is true. I glance over at Harry and I see him tense up and avoid my eye contact, but I look away from him and back to Zayn as we continue to talk. After awhile I thought it was time to leave. "I think we should go, I need to put Sam to bed." I spoke in a whisper so that I didn't wake up my sleeping daughter. Harry and Zayn nodded their heads and only minutes later Sam, Harry and I left. Harry carried Sam to the car and tried putting her in her car seat again, except this time he actually got it. I double checked the buckles to make sure he didn't mess up, but he didn't. I drove us back to my house since Harry left his car there and within minutes that's where we were.

       Harry gets Sam from the back of the car and carries her like he has been all night, and I thought it was the sweetest thing. Harry and I stayed quiet as he carried her inside and into her bedroom where he set her down in her bed. "You know you don't have to." I whisper to him as he takes her halo off her head and pulls her blanket over her small sleeping body. "I want to." Harry sincerely whispers back. I flick on Sammy's night light in the corner and leave the door opened a crack as Harry and I leave the room and tip toe back down stairs. 

      Once we reach the bottom of the stairs I can't help but to smile up at Harry. "I want to take you out on a date... a real one." Harry interrupted my thoughts. My cheeks turned pink as I grinned widely, like an idiot. I was in shock but I couldn't help but feel just so happy. "Ok." I say in a breathy whisper. "We'll talk details soon." Harry smiles back at me with a look of joy and confidence on his face. Harry turns around to leave my house with the biggest smile on his face I had ever seen.

Oh my freaking god, I am so damn happy right now.
