Chapter 7

As we flew over the blue choppy waters, I saw the world in a whole new perspective. For my whole life, I figured that the world was just 4 domes. Little did I know that it was so much more. There is only a certain amount of detail that you can get from stories and legends. This was the fastest that I would ever travel in my lifetime, and I was flying in an open sky. There were white puffy shapes in the sky, which was so blue it was hard to look at. The vast expanse of water below me was curling into little white waves. And not to mention it went for miles.

After flying for a good 4 hours my ears started to pop, and we landed abruptly on some landmass. There were lush green trees all over the island, and as we got closer I saw other vegetation that I had never seen before. I know why they put us here. The dome is impossible to get back into and the water would be impossible to cross. I wouldn’t want to go into it myself. The number of monsters and vicious animals in there would be enough to scare me out of sleep. Animals. I remembered my conversation last week with Cajun. Cajun. I can’t let myself think about that anymore. He is safe and I was thrown out, so I have to move on from things I can’t change. Right now I have to survive.

“We will be leaving now. Good luck.” The guard stated awkwardly.

They left in the flying machine and we were left standing in the soft sand. What we were dressed in was plain white tee shirts and purple shorts, since we were girls. Blue and purple are the colours of Delta.

“Their choice of our clothing is appropriate. This heat is unbearable!” Complained Cali.

“Yes I know, what’s up with that?” responded Summer

“Well we’ll have to get used to it. Let’s check our packs and see what supplies they gave us.” I suggested.

We search through our packs and find; iodine tabs with instructions, Sweaters, meaning it gets cold at night, a water bottle, knives and a map with the title THE WORLD. It looked old and beaten up.

“Do you know the location of our dome Fedora?” asked Cali

            “No. Nobody does.” I sneered

Cali seemed taken aback by this statement “Just asking”

“Sorry, the heat is getting to me. We have to move, where is the sun?”

            “West” Shouted Cali

“How do you know that?” Asked Summer “You don’t take astronomy until year 11, You must just be in year 8, am I right.”

“Umm, yeah my family isn’t exactly known for their honesty. Pa has some books about it that he let my read.”

“What’s your last name” I questioned

            “Crest.”

If what I thought was true, trusting Cali would be much harder “Oh, Is your father Crest the crook?”

“Oh God no, umm that’s my grandpa. But please don’t judge me because of it!” she pleaded.

At this Summer piped up. “Ok Ok nobody is fighting anybody, or judging; that’s the least of our worries. What does the blasted sun have to do with anything anyway?”

“We have to walk toward it for 2 days.”

            “Morning or evening?” Asked Cali

“Aren’t they the same?” I wondered aloud. The others silently giggled, which made me feel self-conscious and left out.

“The sun doesn’t move, the world does. In the morning the sun will be in the east!” Cali remarked through a fit of giggles.

“Ya ya, well maybe that’s what he meant.” I snapped “We have to go west, east, west, and east for 2 days until we see a sign.” I grumbled. There might be truth in my words though

“A sign? Oh god we have to go somewhere? I’m sure we could make out fine on this beach, if we didn’t want to exert ourselves by walking.” Summer snapped.

“That’s what my father told me to do! I trust him, and I don’t know if I can trust Crest the crook’s granddaughter and some pre-menstrual 24 year old!” I yelled

Summer advanced on me “Really? Cause you’re not exactly pleasant to be around either! Just go and follow you poor daddy’s instructions. We will stay here.”

“Don’t you dare talk to me about my father that way!” and to make my point even clearer, I punched her square in the cheekbone and attempted to run. Cali caught my arm and yanked me to the ground. She was much stronger than she looked. In the time I got up, so did Summer. She kicked my side until I rolled into the horrible water. Sputtering, I got up and ran. Ran to where my father told me to go without hesitation. I faintly heard Cali calling me names, but I ignored her. There are only so many people I can trust and my father is one of them.
