Thoroughly shaken up by the events of last night, I stayed in all day. When I came to Merrowmoor, I expected safety, friendships and a better version of what I had in Delta. My dreams were once again stolen from me by masked men with more power than I.

One thing was for sure, I couldn't disobey Amalie. She was the most welcoming person I had met. Though she had made me angry, I forgave her with the notion that she knew what was best for her recruits. But the man in the mask terrified me. I knew nothing about him, but he knew me. It was the most awful, confusing situation I had ever been in the middle of.

"Fedora? Are you in there? Can we come in please? I'm here with Violet." Called the medic from outside.

Violet, age 17, had started her early morning rounds and found me in my awful state. I had fallen asleep at some point in the night. She initially called the medic on duty, who's name I didn't know.

"Come in!" I called, my shout muffled by the pillow my face was stuffed into.

"Hey girl. Feelin peachier?" Asked Violet soothingly. Originally from Garden, Violet still used the sayings from that dome, as most Garden's did.

"Fine." I called, removing my head from the pillow. Half my hair was in my mouth, and I was still wearing last nights clothes, now much dirtier.

"Hello gorgeous. Welcome back to life." Joked the medic. Violet laughed too.

"You're hilarious guys." I mocked anger, throwing the pillow. These two were the first people who had talked TO me, not down to me, since I had gotten here. It was refreshing. Since it was now mid afternoon, the medic who had helped me was off duty. I guessed the girls were here to get me out of the dorm.

I had told the girls when I was at the hospital earlier that I had fainted. They told me to get some rest and that they would come by later.

"By the way, I'm Celina." The medic introduced. "18"

"Nice to meet you Celina."

Violet spoke up, "Kay girlfriends, lets go and kick up some dirt around this place! I'm gonna getcha an outfit from the vanity. Brush that mess of hair out of your face and I'll style it. Celina can ya get some makeup from the shop downstairs? The good stuff."

Celina seemed happy to oblige and ran down to the small shop on the main floor in my building. Violet got to work on my outfit, and I took care of my rats nest. Normally, I wouldn't want to play dress up, and act girly, but this felt different. For the first time, I didn't feel like the awkward new girl. For the first time here I had, what seemed like, friends.

I showered, brushed and dried my hair. After, Violet popped her head around the corner into the bathroom, and looked at me through the mirror.

"Heeeeeey!" She beamed. "You clean up real nice! Well anyway, I put together a little something, I hope you like it! Girl, the clothes they gave you were not so great. I brought you a little something else."

"Aww Violet! You didn't have to do that!" I replied

"Too late girlfriend. We are going to rock this town tonight. Dinner theatre, flirting, karaoke bars, the whole damn thing!" Violet squealed excitedly.

"Slow down, you are forgetting something. I'm not 16 yet!" I pointed out. "They won't let me into the bars and stuff!"

"Kay. Honey, if you are with me, you will go anywhere. Watch and see."

I took her word for it, and put on the dress she bought. It was green, strapless, and knee length. The waist was pleated, but other than that, just simple. She took my blond hair and curled the ends, to give a tussled look. Celina put my makeup on, which made me look older. Then Violet gave me black flats.

"I won't torture you with heels yet" she teased, pointing at her own 3 inch high heels. She wore a short black dress, with a completely sequinned skirt pencil skirt. How she even moved was a mystery. Her saucy red hair was French braided across her head and down her shoulder. Celina wore a full skirted, knee length, red polka dot dress; with her short, dark brown hair in ringlets.

"We are cuuuute ladies!" Squealed Violet. "Some other girls and guys are meeting up with us at dinner! We better get going."

With that we left my dorm, arm in arm, and though it had gotten dark, I knew I was safe this time.
