The glow of the Downton area glowed through the blackness of the night. It was a Saturday night, so the streets were packed with people rushing to clubs and restaurants, and hollering to find their friends. The restaurant that Violet had chosen was one of the most popular places in Merrowmoor, based on the crowds waiting outside. Her connections were evident when the crowds parted, and the bouncer smiled to let us through.
"Bringing new company miss?" Asked the bouncer
"Yes. Wave this one through whenever." she replied. We walked through into the even more loud and crowded restaurant, to a quieter corner in the back, with a large round booth. Five people were already waiting, and greeted us warmly when we got into view.
"Violet finally! You get slower by the day!" Exclaimed a pretty girl.
"Perfection takes time Lily." Violet replied. "Now we need some introductions. Everyone, this is Fedora."
"Hi Fedora." Chorused the group
"And Fedora, this is Lily, Rose, Mac, Finch and Roy." she introduced, pointing to each in turn. Looking around the table I saw many very well dressed people. Lily and Rose looked like sisters, both slim redheads. Mac had dark skin, and was quite buff. Roy was stuck up looking; with perfect teeth and an "I can defiantly outsmart you" kind of stance. Finch was the most handsome guy I had ever seen in my life.
"Nice to meet you all." I stammered out of nerves. The whole group looked like they were 17 or 18
"Fedora is going to be hanging with is from now on. Kay?" asked Violet.
"That's no problem man." said Mac, "it'll just allow us to get this table more. The damn Purple Panda's, or whatever they call themselves, tried to sneak past the bouncer today. Only to be told to get in line until we go through. Ain't nobody getting past till we are in."
"It's not like they even try. They'd sooner get kicked out than actually try at anything!" Laughed Lily
"See that's where you are wrong though. West just got top of his class at Uni. If they keep it up we are going to be demoted." Added Roy
"Oh big whoop. University doesn't control the group status. The members do." Argued Celina. "As long as Violet keeps her top notch act in the Leader's gardens up, we hold First Tier. Cause in the end, the leaders are the connection."
"I'm other news, did you see what Lizzy was wearing today? It just made me want to smack her! Like how can she hate me, but wear something I designed!" Complained Rose.
They continued on like this for a while, even after we ordered food. I was so lost I didn't even know what to say. First Tier? Connections? If I had gotten myself into some rich gang war, I was screwed. All I knew was that Violet was obviously the leader.
"Why don't we stop talking about taking the town, and actually go take it instead."
My heart skipped a beat and my brain went to mush when Finch spoke for the first time. His voice was smooth as silk, a perfect pitch, and he spoke reason. He got better and better by the minute.
"Good idea Finch. Lets go!" Demanded Violet.
We got up from the table, and once again the crowds got out of out way as we shuffled through. The bouncer let us out with a nod of approval.
"Where are we going?" I asked, to nobody in particular.
"Anywhere we want!" Exclaimed Violet. "We own this town."
