"Baby," I say softly. Leo wiggles slightly.
"Leo it's time to get up!" He opens his eyes slowly. I see he's about to cry so I give him his mickey paci. One thing I've learned in 8 months of being a Leo's mommy is that he always regresses younger when he first wakes up.
"Shh baby, its okay. We have to get up early if we wanna catch the plane," I say. He sits up as I lower his crib bar. I hold his hand as he carefully steps out.
"Morning mama," he mumbles softly.
"Good morning prince. What do you wanna wear?" I ask. He wanders over to his closet. I watch as he grabs his favorite shortalls and a mickey mouse sweatshirt we got just for the occasion.
"Dis?" He asks.
"Too adorable!" I respond. I help him get dressed and but him in a clean diaper."Mickey!" He says finally sounding awake. I smile and grab the stuffie from the crib.
"Mama we going to disney land!" He says excitedly.
"We are! And we have a lot of stuff to do before we can go to the airport, so let's get started! Breakfast is on the table. Mommy has to go get dressed," I say. Leo scurries to the kitchen and I go to my room.
I look at the alarm clock by my bed. 5:15. We're running on time so far. I got through a check list in my head. We packed last night, Leo's carry on bag is filled with things to keep him busy during the flight, we have snacks, Leo's 3 favorite paci's and stuffies are in his suitcase. We're good!
I got through my drawers until I see my shirt. A grey minnie mouse shirt that says mommy.Leo's gonna love it! I haven't showed him yet. I pair it with blue jeans then see what's going on in the kitchen.
"Hey little man," I say. He's sitting at the table eating his eggs like a good boy.
"Hi mommy! I like your shirt! My mommy," he says. I chuckle and ruffle his hair.
"Almost done eating?" I ask. He takes one big bite then his plate is clean.
"Done!" He says through a mouthful of food.
"Okay then let's pack up the car!" We each have one suit case and a carry on. Leo puts his backpack on then attempts to carry his suitcase down the hall and to the elevator.
"Baby, there's wheels for a reason," I say. He examines his bag then see's them. He puts down the bag and runs down the hall, the bag trailing behind him. I smile. That's my baby all and all.
"Okay! Everything in?" I ask.
"Yes ma'am!" Leo says excitedly.
"All buckled?" I ask. Leo nods excitedly.
"Okay then let's go!" I say. I shift the car into reverse and we're off!
I never really realized how busy airports are til we got there.
"Hold mommy's hand and don't let go," I say.
"Okay mommy!" Leo says excitedly.
"And you got your phone, so if you get lost call me immediately,"
"Its okay mommy! I not going anywhere!" He says comforting me. I love my baby boy.
We go through the security line which takes far too long.
"Mama why can't I have any metal on me?" Leo asks.
"Because they're making sure you don't have anything that could hurt anyone," I say. Leo fiddles with his stuffie as he walks through the metal detector. People are looking at him oddly. He's completely oblivious and I hope he stays that way. He's happy, and for some reason that makes other people uncomfortable.
"Flight 264 is now boarding," a voice says on the intercom. I curse under my breath.
"Okay baby that's our flight, so take mommy's hand and lets run!" I say. We run to our gate and barely make it.
"Just in time!" A friendly lady says.
"Mommy the plane is huge!" Leo says loudly as we step onto the plane. I shh him
"Yes it is, now let's find our seats!" We sit in the back. Leo gets the window seat that I assume will keep him busy most of the ride. The flight attendant goes through the safety precautions and what to do in an emergency. Leo listens closely with wide eyes.
"Mommy we be okay right?" He says nervously.
"We're gonna be just fine baby! Is this your first time on an airplane?" I ask. He nods. I kiss his forehead and hug him.
"You're gonna love it!" I say confidently. When the plane takes off he looks out the window the whole time.
"Mama we moving!" He says.
"Yes we are! Florida here we come!" I feel excited myself, I know we're gonna have a lot of fun. But first we have to get passed a four hour fight
