Chapter Ten - Where Do We Go Now?

7:00 am is too early for rehearsals, how is it expected that we can function effectively? I walk into the lobby already feeling sluggish since Jace and I stayed up late the night before talking. I spot Finn and Zack already waiting for me so I make my way over to them. As I approach Finn holds out a coffee cup, instantly making me feel better. "You are now my favourite person ever" I tell him as I take the cup. I am way too reliant on caffeine but oh well!

"Ready for rehearsals?" I ask the guys as we get into the van. "Yeah, this week is going to be so hard but I'm excited" Zack replies. "Hey guys smile" Finn calls out as he positions his phone to take a picture of us all. "Our live yesterday was so fun, we should do another before Thursday" I say smiling at the memory of the day before. The guys agree and we continue to talk until we reach the set. As we walk into rehearsals Adam, Tim and In Real Life are already waiting for us.

We walk around and greet everyone before putting our stuff down to begin vocal warm ups. We then get ready to sing our song, which doesn't have any choreography or anything yet. The track plays and we sing through the song but I can tell that something isn't quite right. I look to Finn and Zack seeing the same expression on their faces. "Alright guys take a seat" Tim tells us as we move over to the stools. "How do you guys feel about the song?" Adam asks us. "Honestly I feel like something is a bit off, I'm just not sure that the song really fits" I say feeling nervous for questioning the song that was given to us. "I agree, I don't think that the song is right" Brady says from the side, making me feel a bit more confident about my comment.

"What about you two?" Tim asks Finn and Zack. "I'm with Sam, maybe we could try a different song and see what happens?" Finn suggests with Zack nodding along in agreement. Tim and Adam also agree with us so we decide to take a few minutes to think of a new song choice. "Guys I think I have an idea" Zack says, catching our attention. "What if we sung a MKTO song? The one we did in the live the other day sounded great so what if we pick another one of their songs that fits the theme?" he suggests. "Yeah that's a good idea" Finn replies.

I continue to think before the perfect song hits me, "What if we took the theme in a slightly different direction? The theme is moving on from heartbreak but that doesn't have to be from a relationship. We could sing the song 'American Dream' which is about moving on from the expectations of a certain lifestyle" I say. The guys both break out into huge smiles, "That is so clever Sammy" Finn says pulling me into a side hug. "Why don't you guys work on it for a bit and come back later after the other groups have had their vocal rehearsals so we can see if it works" Tim tells us.

After figuring out our parts we practise for a few hours before being called back into rehearsals. "So how did it go?" Adam asks. "This song is so much better, it really suits us more" Zack answers. We run the song for them and I can already tell that it is a lot better from the guys faces. "Fuego" Sergio yells out, causing us all to laugh. "We still need to sharpen up those vocals but a lot better than the last song, great job guys" Tim tells us with approval.

After vocal rehearsals we head over to choreography with Nappytabs and then wardrobe. "Okay you are free to go" one of the designers Kelly tells us as we change back into our normal clothes. We ride the van back to the hotel where everyone else already is since we were the last group to finish. I get back into my room and collapse on to the bed, it feels so good to relax right now.
