Chapter 1: Shocked

~Nash's POV~

I saw the door slowly open. Acacia looked back at me. I felt my eyes widen at the sight of her staring back at me. Why is she here? I asked myself. I turned away and walked over to Cameron.

"Cam! We need to talk now!"

"Can we talk insi-"

"No! Now!" I said tugging at his arm.

"What's wrong Nash?"

"Acacia is inside!"

"WHAT?! How do you know?"

"She just answered the door."

"How am I going to explain her to Lexi?"

"I don't know but I don't want to go inside."

"Fuck. I don't get it. Why is she here though?"

"I don't know but we need to go in and find out." I said.

"Okay. Help with the bags."

We grabbed our bags and walked inside the house. My mom greeted us and went straight for the baby. It felt awkward to be in the same house as Acacia. I was still confused on why she was here. Then I saw Hayes walk by.

"Hayes!"

"Nash?! Hey!"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure what is it?"

"Why is Acacia here?"

"Really? Fucked up question to ask."

"Why?"

"You don't remember your own little sisters birthday. Even Taylor remembered." He said as he walked away.

Skylynn's birthday? I thought. SHIT SHE'S TURNING EIGHT TODAY! I felt like a horrible person but the one name that was quietly haunting me was Taylor. Taylor Caniff. Why was he here at my parents house? With my first love. I was angry and pissed off that he was here. I tried my hardest to ignore their laughter coming from the backyard. I heard Hayes and Skylynn back there with them.

~Cameron's POV~

By the time I got in the house Acacia wasn't in there. I felt like Nash lied to me. I handed Aaron Nash to Mrs. Grier and walked to the bathroom. On my way I saw a few heads in the backyard. I noticed Hayes's but the other two weren't as noticeable. I ignored it and walked inside. I shut the bathroom and did my business. When I finished I washed my hands and opened the door. Acacia. She was staring back at me. Her smooth face, her brown eyes, light brown hair, her. I felt myself having butterflies in the bottom of my stomach. I stood in front of the bathroom door just staring back at her. She looked back at me.

"H-hi." I managed to say.

She waved at me and smiled. "Hi Cameron."

"How are you?"

"In need of a desperate pee. Do you?"

"Oh yeah. Sorry. Go ahead and pee."

She walked past me and shut the door behind her. I hit my back on the wall and smiled like an idiot. Why is it that she always can have my heart in a split second and catch it with only one word? I kept thinking to myself. I heard the door slowly turn and I quickly walked back to the living room. I was handed the baby and was told to go in the back yard. I carried Aaron Nash and walked out. Acacia was back there and I made my way to her but then I saw her kiss the guy that was cooking. Why? Why is it that everytime I slowly start falling for her I always get my heart broken? Over little things too. I held the baby and noticed her grab a glance at me. I smiled and saw her return it.

~Acacia's POV~

I was shocked to see Cameron. It was a bit awkward. I walked back to Taylor and kissed him. I noticed Cameron looking at me and I smiled back not because I like him but because I didn't want to be rude. I noticed he was hold a baby and I always knew he was going to be good with kids. I felt my arm being tugged and saw Skylynn.

"Caci can we go in the jump house?"

"Of course. Babe I'm going with Sky in the jump house."

"Okay. Hey don't go and break my girlfriend." He told her as he poked her side.

She laughed and pulled me towards the jump house. I took my shoes off and crawled through the little opening. I followed Sky as she went up and down the slide. I felt like a little kid jumping up and down in there. I laughed at her faces she was making. I was glad my bond never broke with her. Then I felt someone push me down. Ugh! I said as I hit the rubber ground. I turned around and saw 17 year old Hayes. He put me in a head lock and I escaped it even with Skylynn jumping on me.

"Hayes is Liam coming?"

"Why do you have a crush on him?" He said mocking Skylynn.

"No." She answered in a blush.

"Don't worry. He's coming."

That's when I heard her first guess coming out back. Where's Skylynn? I heard in the distance. Taylor's voice was clear and a little girl popped in. That was Hayes and my cue to get out and go back with the adults. We got out and put our shoes back on.

Mrs. Grier's voice in a panic asked, "Acacia sweetie do you mind going to get the cake. They called and I have so much to still do."

"Sure. Hayes want to come with me?"

"Yeah."

"Hey babe. Can I have the keys? Hayes and I are going to go get the cake."

"Sure. Why not? Oh can you buy some more "

"Hayes! Let's go!" I yelled.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned around. Cameron was staring back at me.

"Mind if I join too?"

"Uh. Um. Sure."

"Okay."

"HAYES!"

"Here. Ready?"

"Yeah." I answered.

We walked to the car and Cameron got in the front seat, Hayes in the back. It felt awkward and I felt Hayes reach over and change the radio station. He started singing and I couldn't help but laugh. With him I could always be myself. Even with others around.
