Chapter One: The Lion Meets The Deer

"The tragedy is all right there...in the very beginning when he smiles at her. When she instantly forgets. Forgets how dangerous he is." -Anne Eliot

I sipped on my strawberry milkshake and smiled at my two best friends.

Kevin Keller, my ride or die gay best friend for life, sitting beside me.

And Maeve Reeves, my other best friend who was a badass, sitting across from us.

"It's good to have you back Cherry." Kevin grins at me, clinking his glass against mine.

"It's good to be back. Six months spent with The Sisters Of Quiet Mercy were six months too many." I sigh, moving some hair from my face.

"I swear when I see Reggie at school, I'm going to kill him," Maeve growls.

"I still can't believe that A. Reggie outed you as Bi just because you broke up with him and B. that your parents sent you away because of it." Kevin shakes his head.

"Yeah, well my parents are cruel people. They only discharged me when Jason went missing. And they only did it then because they have some wild notion that I had something to do with it." I scoff.

"Well, your parents always have been insane." Maeve rolls her eyes as she takes a sip from her milkshake.

"Enough depressing talk! I want to know everything I've missed! Any new cute guys or girls in Riverdale?" I smile, twirling my straw around my glass.

"You haven't changed at all, have you?" Kevin asks, tilting his head.

"Not one bit." I wink before taking some whipped cream from the top of my shake.

"But no, no new cuties," Maeve says and I sigh.

"Who's that?" I ask and point to a man sitting at the counter, his back to us, showing off his black leather jacket. The Southside Serpent emblem prominent.

"Oh, that? That's FP Jones, Jughead's dad. You remember him from when we were younger, yeah?" Maeve asks and my mouth drops open slightly.

"That's FP?" I ask in disbelief and she just nods.

The last time I had seen FP Jones, I was eight years old and Jughead was six.

Oh, how the times have changed.

"Excuse me, ladies,"  I smirk as I stand and get out of our booth, making my way towards the tall man.

I get up to him and I lightly tap his shoulder, making him turn around.

"Mr. Jones. I don't know if you remember me, but-" I start with a wide smile before he stops me.

"Cheri Blossom, I remember you." He nods with a sly smile.

"It's been forever since I've seen you." I continue smiling, starting to play with my hair slightly.

"Yeah, Blossom's don't typically hang around with people like me." He laughs dryly and I pout a little before having a seat next to him.

"First of all, I'm nothing like my horrid excuse for a family. Second of all, just because they don't 'hang around' you, doesn't mean I don't want to." I shrug innocently.

He shakes his head and keeps looking forward.

I scan my brain for any information about FP I remembered that I could use as an excuse to see him more.

"I don't want to bother you, I just remember Archie telling me you and his dad used to play in a band together. You played the guitar, right?" I smile again.

"Yeah, I remember those days." He smiles lightly and a hint of a laugh escapes his lips.

"Well, I plan on being in the annual talent show this year and I wanted to play the guitar with my song. Do you think maybe you could help me?" I look at him with big eyes.

"Why not just ask Archie to help? I've heard he's been doing some stuff on the guitar."

"Because Archie Andrews is practically Satan himself and I would rather curl up and die on the auditorium floor than ask him for anything." My smile drops as I talk about him.

"A bit dramatic, if you ask me." FP laughs lightly.

"C'mon FP. Please?" I pout and lean forward on the counter on my elbows.

"I don't think so, Cheri." He sighs and stands up as Pop hands him his bag of food.

I stand up quickly after him and pull out my wallet from my purse.

"I'll pay you for lessons," I say and he stops walking towards the door.

"How much?" He asks, hesitantly.

"One hundred bucks per session sound good enough to entice you?" I ask and hold up a one hundred dollar bill.

He sighs and looks at his shoes, before back to me, and then back to the money, then back to me.

"Alright fine. Be at my place tonight, six o'clock." He sighs again and I nod with a triumphant smile.

"Thank you." I grin and he shakes his head, laughing lightly.

"No problem, I'll see you later." He smiles before walking out.

I walk back over to the booth that held my friends, who were both staring at me with wide eyes as I sat back down.

"Cheri, how-" Kevin starts, but just trails off.

I smile mischievously as I take a sip of my shake.

"But don't you already know how to play guitar?" He asks after finally gaining his composure.

"Of course I do, but I didn't know what else as an excuse to get him alone." I shrug innocently.

My two best friends look at me with even more shock evident in their features, if that was even possible.

"Only you." Maeve shakes her head and laughs lightly.

"Glad to have you back Cherry." Kevin laughs and smiles at me.

I smile at them and start thinking of what all could come from this.
