Chapter Six: Rebel with a Cause

"The drive-in closing is just another nail in the coffin that is Riverdale. No, forget Riverdale, the coffin of the American dream. As the godfather of indie cinema, Quentin Tarantino likes to say," Jughead continues on his rant before Kevin cuts him off.
"Please, God, no more Quentin Tarantino references." He says, as frustrated as I was at Jughead's nonstop rambling.
"What? I'm pissed! And not just about losing my job, the Twilight Drive-in should mean something to us! People should be trying to save it!" He argues.
"In this age of Netflix and VOD, do people really want to watch a movie in a car? I mean, who even goes there?" Veronica says and I shrug.
"I love the drive-in. Clearly not as much as Jughead, but it does have great sentimental value. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy HBO as much as the next girl, but drive-in movies were always special." I smile.
"Who goes there? People who want to buy crack." Kevin says, ignoring me, making me roll my eyes.
"And cinephiles. And car enthusiasts. Right, Mae?" Jughead says, turning to Maeve who nods.
"Totally." Betty agrees, seeming a bit spaced.
"Anyway, it's closing because the town owns it, but didn't invest in it. So, when an anonymous buyer made Mayor McCoy an offer she couldn't refuse-" He starts off again before Veronica cuts him off.
"An anonymous buyer? What do they have to hide? No one cares." She laughs.
"I do!" Jughead looks at her, offended.
"Also, you guys should come to closing night. I'm thinking American Graffiti. Or is that too obvious?" He says, a devilish smirk on his face.
"I'm up for anything starring Audrey Hepburn. Or Cate Blanchett." Veronica smiles.
"I agree. Breakfast At Tiffany's would be an amazing closer." I grin.
"Or the talented Mr. Ripley," Kevin says and I nod.
"Maeve, what about you?" Kevin asks and I look at her.
"Maybe Rebel Without a Cause?" She grins and Jughead smiles at her.
They were clearly in love with each other and it was borderline sickening.
"You okay, B?" Veronica asks her and we all turn to look at her.
"Yeah, just thinking." She shakes her head.
"Here you go," Miss Lodge says as she drops off our basket of fries and we smile at her.
