he watched from above as the earth rotated, and people fell into slumber. they slowly put out their fires and dampened their torches as jungkook gazed upon them with a fondness he couldn't quite put away.
the moon is a lovely thing, the sun mused from far, far away.
he is cool and soft and damaged, craters dotting his surface in a myriad of odd shapes and sizes. he's terribly shy and sweet, escaping the sun's warm rays every morning as he retreats behind the earth.
she wishes to catch a moment with him, to tell him he is quite possibly the most beautiful thing she's ever seen, and maybe strike up a friendship even.
quite honestly, she thinks, as the earth makes another slow rotation and he is once again gone behind the planet without a trace, she thinks she loves him.
for there is no other body in the universe as enthralling as him.
not even the earth she so carefully crafted with her own hands to accompany him on his small journeys, so that he wouldn't be so lonely and isolated in this vast emptiness.
she gazed at her wonderful earth, at the miniscule humans dotting the vast green and blue of the surface.
it was truly her most beautiful creation.
and she was contented, for now, to gaze at them for as long as need be.
years passed.
small dwellings developed into larger cities, and grand castles that were encased in gold.
she watched with pride and slight worry as the humans built up a thriving civilization with the resources in the environment around them.
at the rate it was going, the planet she had crafted so carefully would no longer be.
she tried to warn them, growing brighter with anxiousness.
but the humans ignored her, finding new ways to combat the new found heat and build even larger fortresses.
and many years later, a flurry of arrows found themselves embedded in her body, and she fell onto a small peninsula. she resorted to her human form so as not to destroy the humans, only to be shocked when the very people she had created advanced upon her still flaming body on horses, wielding bows and weapons of destruction.
"why?" she managed to choke out as the burly men dampened the flames with blankets, and then encasing her in a net so that she would not escape.
"yes, yes," an elderly man said, stepping forward but still at a distance, as if afraid she would kill him.
and she could, her wounds from the arrows already closing and ceasing to exist.
but she would never hurt them, for she loved them as her own children. she had created them, so they were hers to protect.
the man stroked his beard and smiled shrewdly.
"the king will be very pleased."

jungkook gasped as the world and universe as far as he could see was encased in darkness.
he could hear his humans wailing in distress as the light ceased to light up their region, and he searched around the globe in panic as the light seemed to disappear faster and faster every moment.
and then he felt it.
a deep, longing emptiness somewhere far inside him. he ached for someone he had seen and loved from a distance, who had been a constant, comforting presence in his existence.
