Chapter 58

"Do I have to go tonight?"

Today it was my turn to lay in bed, naked except for the blanket I was cocooned in as I watched Karma get changed, marvelling at his body and wanting to be held  in his arms. Today was the day of our untraditional hens and bucks nights. I would be going out with Kayano, Isogai, Irina, Sugino and few friends I had made at the company. Karma however was spending his day with Nakamura and his friends hunting. When he had first told me what he liked to do, go the forests to hunt predators, and then asked if I would ever join him I had instantly declined. To crouch in a freezing forest and hunt while the creatures hunted you. It reminded me to much of darker days, of when I was the thing being hunted and I couldn't bring myself to do it. A part of me was worried for him but when I saw the smile on his face I remembered he was a predator in a human skin. He had hunted worse than a few bears and wolves.

"You'll have fun. You haven't had a chance to catch up with your friends in a while. Go, have fun. Kayano planned it all out."

"Cant you just give me a little hint?"

Nobody had told me what we were doing, only to dress nice and they would pick me up late in the afternoon. 

"Sorry, I don't want to risk her and Irina's wrath."

He shivered in pretend fear and I tossed the pillow at him. He caught it with ease and leant down to kiss me goodbye.

"Get some rest, I will see you tonight."

I heard Nakamura honking the car horn out on the driveway and Karma rushed off. I listened as the front door opened and Karma yelling.

"Don't get you knickers in a twist, I'm coming."

I laughed before rolling back up in my blanket and went back to sleep.

It was midday when I woke up again and I stretched out in the bed, wondering what I should get up to before Kayano came for me. My rumbling stomach reminded me I hadn't eaten anything since last night so I started running the bath as I headed down to the kitchen and grabbed a bowl of cereal, turning on some music as I devoured it. Grabbing one of my books I headed back to the bathroom and turned on the jets in the bath before jumping in. 

I was just nodding off when the bathroom door opened.

"Time to go!"

I cried out in shock, sinking further into the bath and she laughed, grabbing the towel off the hook and putting in next to the tub.

"Come on, your hens night starts now!"

She pranced out the door, leaving me staring flabbergasted after her. Sugino poked his head around the corner, a blush on his cheeks.

"Sorry about her. Take your time."

Thankfully he closed the door and I sunk under the water with a sigh. Kayano never did anything little or half way. My birthdays had always been big affairs that I barely remembered the next day from all the alcohol. 

It looked like this would be another one of those days as when I finally headed downstairs, dressed in a pair of dark jeans and black singlet she was blending up some cocktails. 

"It's not even two o'clock yet."

I said as I moved over to her and she handed me a drink.

"It's five o'clock somewhere!"

We proceeded to drink and play the traditional hens night games. We made toilet paper wedding gowns and they made me wear a veil but I didn't mind as I would be wearing one with my wedding dress. The drinks flowed and I had never laughed and smiled so much in my life. Even Sugino and Isogai were having fun and we eventually moved to the games room for some pool. As we were watching the others play Isogai sat next to me, chatting away and updating me on everything he had been up to and inviting me to the new stage play from the harry potter universe. As we talked his eyes roved to the puffy scar that ran down my upper arm from when I had been cut hunting people for the Asano group. I followed his eyes and noticed the other scars, old and new along my arms that the singlet didn't hide.
