Pandemonium erupted in the warehouse. I stared as the mercenaries near my mother moved, half of them grabbed her and ran for the exit while the others moved towards us. The drunks and gamblers moved out of the way, not wanting to get in the middle of our fight.

"Let's go!"

Karma led the way and I charged after him. Karma engaged the first man who came in hot, fists swinging. I could only watch for a second before another man moved towards me. I dodged his arms and swept his legs out from beneath him before hitting him under his chin and his eyes rolled to the back of his head. turning towards Karma he had already dispatched his attacker, the man moaning and clutching a broken arm to his chest. He nodded in approval before leading the way again. At the exit I saw Isogai standing over two unconscious men as he massaged his bleeding knuckles.

"The girls are keeping them tied up further along. I will make sure no one follows you guys."

Karma clasped his shoulder in thanks before we rushed onwards. My heart was thumping with excitement and fear. I wasn't afraid of the mercenaries, I was afraid I would be too weak to carry out my justice.

"Shit!"

Karma crashed into me, tackling me out of the way as the sound of a gun shot echoed and the bullet slammed into the wall near where I had been standing seconds before. He reached into my jumper and grabbed the gun he had put there and rolled into the open and fired with barely a glance. I heard a body hit the ground and we were moving again, staying crouched low in case there were anymore surprises. No more approached us but when we neared the end of the lane I saw Kayano and Nakamura standing at the ready, blades in hand while they stared down a group of men. We moved up next to them and Nakamura nodded in greeting, a predatory grin lighting her face  up.

"This is the last of them. Nagisa, your mother ran that way."

She pointed to another alleyway between two decrepit buildings, a little to the side where the mercenaries were.

"We will engage them, you go after her. She couldn't have gotten far, she had too much to drink."

I could hear the disgust in Kayano's words as she glared at the spot where my mother had disappeared off to. I nodded my hand and went to move forward but stopped when Karma grabbed my arm, pulling me towards him and kissing the top of my head.

"Be careful and remember, you don't have to do anything. If you want help just call for me, I wont be far away."

"Thank you," I said, full of feeling.

The three of them rushed forward and I darted off to the alleyway. One of the men caught sight of me and turned to engage me but had to dive to the side as Kayano sent a blade flying towards his face. He didn't have time to recover before I disappeared down the passageway. I ran quietly, glad my soft leather boots didn't make any sound. It was because of this I heard a person stumbling not far in front of me. I emerged from the dark alley slowly and saw my mother a few steps away, spinning in a circle as she tried to figure out where to go. She was covered in dirt and blood where she must have fallen while running and skinned her knees.

"Hello mother."

She spun at my words, her eyes widening in surprise as I stepped towards her.

"Shiota? Is that really you?"

I felt a portion of my rage and killing fire trickle away at my name and I had to close my eyes to settle my heart.

"My little Shiota, you are okay?"

I heard her stumble towards me but I took a step back, shaking my head as I opened my eyes to glare at her.

"No thanks to you!"
