I stared at the guard before me as he slouched against the wall having a smoke. Did he know who the prisoner was and why she was in there? What would he report back to the boss? He straightened up and hastily put out his cigarette, everyone knew that I hated the smell of smoke.

"Howdy blue, the boss said that you and him are the only ones permitted in to see this prisoner. I heard she tried to attack you and sell information about your past and the boss stopped her."

Ah, so that was the story he was telling. I was kind of glad that nobody else knew how important she really was to me. I didn't need to give anyone anymore power over me than what Lord Asano held. As I got closer I noticed that there was a jug of water and a bowl of half eaten soup on the floor near him. seeing my gaze the guard shifted uncomfortably on his feet.

"Ah, I just wanted her to suffer a little bit. Someone who has it out for our little blue snake doesn't deserve any kindness. In fact, some of the guys were saying maybe we should pay her a visit at night. I know the boss didn't want anyone to come in but we could always find interesting ways to keep her mouth from making any sounds."

He grinned at me but I felt only a stillness settle over me.

"No one will touch her."

My voice was cold and whatever the guard saw in my eyes made him take a step back, his eyes wide with fear. He swallowed and bowed his head.

"Sorry blue."

"You will go and prepare a proper meal for her, not this slop."

"But"-

"You have your orders."

I stared him down, my azure eyes snapping and he rushed off to do my bidding. I grabbed the jug and the small first aid kit nearby and headed into the cell. My nose wrinkled at the smell, they didn't clean down here often and it smelled of rotting bodies, blood and less pleasant things. I closed the door behind me and rushed towards the figure in the chair before me. I stopped, my hand an centimetre away from her hair.

"Don't worry there is nothing in their to hurt you. Your men made sure of that."

Her voice was bitter and she didn't lift her head. she must have thought I was one of the gang members.

"Kayano."

Her head shot up and her eyes were bright on her blood stained face.

"Nagisa?"

I quickly cut the ropes keeping her tied to the chair and the moment she was free she pulled me into her embrace and I squeezed her back, ignoring the blood and grime.

"When Karma and Nakamura said they had a lead I didn't believe them! I thought for sure that it was his grief making him see things but hear you are!"

She let go enough so she could look me over. Just like Karma her eyes pinned on the bandage on my arm and travelled to the bruise I could feel forming on the side of my face where the boss had struck me when I had objected to his handling of Kayano.

"What happened to you?"

"Asano, gang leaders son found me washed up on the beach and treated me. I lost my memory but my body remembered Karma's lessons."

"And they recruited you."

I nodded.

"And now you have your memories back they needed some leverage and that's why I am here."

She was quick to put the pieces together and I bowed my head.

"I'm sorry."

"This isn't your fault dummy. I am just so happy you are alive. I failed you."
