Ved checked his breath and touched the shirt's top pocket and smiled. He felt slightly nervous as he rang the door-bell. His heart beat increasing with the approaching foot-steps. He took a deep breath as the door opened.
Asha peeped from inside, she looked at him and her frown turned into a smile when she saw Ved on the other side.
'Hey, Ved!' She greeted him and hugged him. Ved greeted her, hugging her back. They parted, and she stepped aside letting him in. He entered the room and looked around the living room. He heard sounds from the bedroom and looked at Asha. She shook her head. 'Nihal is such a stubborn kid. He is giving Natasha a hard time.'
Ved felt slightly bad for Natasha. He looked at Asha, - 'May I go in?' He pointed towards the bedroom. Asha nodded and gestured him to go.
'All the best.' She said as he approached the door. He turned around and smiled gratefully at her.
'Arey, Beta. What is wrong with this one?' Natasha spoke agitatedly.
Nihal took the red shirt from his mother's hand and tossed it on the bed, - 'I don't like the color.' He scrunched his nose. Natasha rolled her eyes.
'Hey! What is happening?' Ved spoke. Natasha turned her head and Nihal gasped. As he was shirtless he tried hiding behind his mother.
'Uff, ho! Beta.' Natasha frowned and stood up. Nihal peeked from behind her. Ved looked at him and he hid behind his mother again.
'I am sorry for the delay.' She apologized tugging on her yellow long top.
'Na, it is okay.' Ved replied waving his hand. Natasha forced a smile. Ved looked at Nihal, who is clinging to his mother holding her Jeans tightly. Ved is slightly upset that Natasha chose jeans and her well-toned legs are hidden. But luckily, she is wearing ripped jeans and, so he can look at knees, for now. A smirk appeared on his face.
'Get out! I am not ready yet.' Nihal mustered courage and spoke. He peeked from behind his mother and quickly hid behind her again.
'Nihal, is that a way to speak to elders?' Natasha scolded him. Nihal glared at his mother with an angry pout.
'Hey, Natasha it is okay.' Ved took a step and Nihal glared him now. Natasha sighed. Ved smiled at Nihal. 'Look what Ved got for you.' He said and dug his fingers into the shirt pocket and took out a dairy milk. He flashed it and noticed Nihal eye it. He licked his lips hungrily. Ved smiled to himself.
'Wow! Chocolate.' Natasha encouraged her son. Nihal looked very tempted but he quickly fixed his expressions.
'I don't eat chocolates. Mumma says it's bad for teeth.' He said. Natasha rolled her eyes while Ved mentally facepalmed.
'As if you listen to everything Mamma says.' Natasha pointed out and the kid looked clearly offended. Ved thought for a while and said, - 'Hey, Nihal. I have another thing for you.' Nihal looked hopefully at him.
'What?'
'First get ready and come.'
'No,'- he stepped from behind his mother and demanded, - 'Give it to me, now.'
'Nihal!' Natasha said sternly and Nihal rolled his eyes.
**************************
Ved and Asha exchanged glances and silently chuckled hearing Natasha scold Nihal in the room.
'You are eight-year-old and still behaving like a kid.'
'And you are embarrassing me in front of Ved. What he must be thinking of you?'
'Shame on you. Wear this properly. Stand properly.'
