I worked there for 9 months, every day I made some progress. I could not make too much, otherwise Harrison would keep an eye on me even more than he already did.
Occasionally I was allowed to clean something in the laboratory. That's how I found out that he did not work alone. He worked with a woman Caitlin and a boy Cisco. I also received more and more information about who the boy was in the treatment room. Barry Allen. 9 months ago, when I first came to work here, he was appointed for research into his condition. He was struck by lightning on the night that the particle accelerator exploded. I still do not understand why he is here and not in the hospital.I could easily find out, but I want to figure it out on the old-fashioned way.
My relationship with Harrison Wells is still as in the beginning. He only spoke when there was a reason and I did the same. With Cisco and Caitlin on the other hand, we have built up a bit more of a working relationship. We only talk on the work floor and about work. This way I get to know bit by bit what is going on with Barry and whether there is progress in his recovery. Caitlin says he should wake up soon. And that happened too, that same week. I heard glass breaking and things falling from the lab, so I took the initiative to go there and get rid of it, because I could not clean up much on the ground floor. It was only the larger pieces. When they were out of the way, I could paint the walls again and renovate the floor.
When I reached the top, Barry was out of bed and he was much better off than when he was in bed. Everywhere there was glass and papers were scattered across the floor as if a window had been opened during a tornado. Everyone stopped what he or she was doing and looked my way. Harrison was already irritated by the fact that I was upstairs without permission. "What are you doing?" I looked around for a moment to answer. "I heard a glass break, so I thought I would turn up and clean it up.'' Dr.Wells looked at the glass I was talking about. "Good, but hurry up." He wove his hand and then drove away, stopped for a moment, and pointed to Barry. "I want to talk to you mister Allen." And then he drove through the hall.
I walked to where the glass was laying and started to clean it up. Barry knelt beside me to help me. "Here, let me help you." He cautiously started picking up the larger pieces of glass. and throwing them in the garbage can that I had brought with me. " Oh no, you don't have to do that, therefore I'm here." I looked at him for a moment to get a good impression of him, in his eyes, I could swear I saw something that looked like lightning, it was only there for a second and then it was gone. At that moment, I realized why he was here. He was the first meta-human who was known at Star Labs laboratories. The question remained, how did Harrison Wells know before the particle accelerator exploded. Or was this all a set up, set in scene by him.
After Barry and I had cleaned up the glass shards together, he presented himself professionally. He held out his hand, I locked myself out for everything before I took his hand. "Barry. Barry Allen, "he said with a small smile. I laughed back and said '' Y/n. Y/N- Y/L/N.'' He nodded slightly before he took back his hand. I looked away from Barry before asking the next question. "So ... what brings you here?" I was 100 percent sure that Dr. Wells would not like this if he found out that I was asking this. "I am here because I was hit by a thunderbolt and they, Dr. Wells and Caitlin, could take better care of me here than in the hospital." I nodded and looked at Caitlin who mixed in the conversation. "We had more options here to find out why Barry was in a coma for so long." Caitlin seemed honest about what she said so I believed her on her word.
"I am the cleaner, if that was not clear enough." I joked. Barry laughed at my joke even though it was not funny at all. Dr. Wells came back to the lab and he glared at me and then to Barry. "I want to speak to you now, Mr. Allen." And with that, he drove away. Barry apologized and then walked behind Dr. Wells. When they both disappeared from my sight, I turned to Caitlin. "Do you have anything I can clean?" I looked at her questioningly. She did not, she shook her head no. ''Sorry, we have already cleaned up everything ourselves.'' Without saying a word, I walked away, before I had reached the corridor I quickly turned around. "Can you find Dr. Wells and say I went home. I have nothing else to clean up below." She nodded. "Yes, I will pass it on.'' I made my way further down to the elevator, once I was out of the elevator I disappeared.
2 months later.
Dr. Wells had arranged a clearance service to get rid of the larger debris. Once they had finished, I could get back to work with laying laminate again and painting the walls. When Dr. Wells was not around, Barry asked me to go upstairs to keep him company when he was alone. He told me that he had returned to work at his job as a forensic investigator at the CPD.
So every now and then I would slip through our conversations that I had some knowledge of computers and technology in general so that I could get to the upper floors a bit more often. Dr. Wells found out after a few weeks that Barry took me upstairs, he was furious at both Barry and me, I was about to be fired if it was not for Barry who told me that I am quite familiar with a computer. I was then instructed to repair the surveillance cameras from below and to install them on the Star Labs network.
What I found remarkable was that just after Barry woke up from his coma there was ol of sudden a superhero in town. The Streak. I was not from yesterday and I knew it was Barry, but what I did not understand was how Dr. Wells knew that Barry got the super power from a Speedster.
I accidentally tried to walk in every time Barry took off his mask, and that was quite difficult. He was always a little too fast, but at the other hand I wasn't really giving it all I had in store. If I would use my own powers, I would have found out in no time. But my luck would come one day so I lived day by day. After a few weeks, I found out. I pretended it was a shok that he was the Streak. Dr. Wells could not do anything about that moment. I swore to him that I would not tell anyone, one of the reasons was that I could not. I lived on my own and planned to move 2 years ago. I had pushed that plan forward and it was good idea after all. I would not want to miss this for no gold. Working together with the Streak, that was later called the Flash, was a dream come true.
I also had an agenda for myself. Occasionally a heroic deed here and now and then a crime there. Because I could not be linked to anything, I had it all figured out. No one knew anything about me as hero nor as a criminal. That's why I'm known as the Ghost.
