The morning of my departure there hung a weird tension in the air. Not being able to sense what it really was about I dropped it and got ready. The others were already up and enjoying their breakfast in the dining room. ''Morning.'' One by one they gave their notice of good morning before returning to their meals.
Fabricating my breakfast was still something I needed to get used to. The clothing sure, loved it, but the food. The food was still a weird concept. Settling with some scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. While my food was getting fabricated I brew myself a cup of coffee and when everything was ready I took a seat at the table. Joining Sara, Ray and Leonard.
The first few minutes were shared in silence. A pleasant one. ''You're leaving today, weren't you?'' Sara asked, biting a peace from her apple. Swallowing down my bite I answered. ''Yeah, Rip drops me off before you all leave for the next mission.''
The rest of breakfast was continued with small talk. Nothing of importance, just the everyday dilemmas. ''I'm just saying waffles are better then muffins.'' Ray tried to get his point across to the others. ''Since when?'' Leonard asked back, clearly not on the same side. ''I think Ray has a point.'' Sara stated, thinking carefully of what to say next.
Amused by there debate, I sat there longer than needed, and listened. The debate went on and on till some of them were screaming. Rip walked in on that moment and looked bewildered. I got up from my seat and walked over to him. ''Trust me, you don't want to know or get involved.'' Standing next to him, both looking at the trio still arguing about waffles and muffins.
Nodding slowly he glanced at the three one last time before saying. ''I guess you're right.'' Rip then turned around and signed for me to follow. As we walked I couldn't help but ask. ''Do you prefer waffles or muffins?'' Confused he stopped for a second to look at me. He thought for a moment and then answered. ''Waffles, why?'' I shrugged and kept on walking. ''So do I, where were we going?'' Looking over my shoulder with a sly smile. ''The fight was about that wasn't it?'' A dry chuckle escaped his lips. ''The bridge.'' was the answer to my question.
On the bridge we took a stand by the control panel. ''Ready to get your powers back?'' without hesitance I nodded. ''Yes.'' The last couple weeks had been hard for me, both physically and mentally. ''It's been hard not to relay on my powers but only on my strength.'' There were so many situations that we could have avoided if I just had my powers. ''I've notice on our missions.'' Of course Rip had noticed, he always kept a close eye on his crew.
I was so used to using my powers when we were in battle, or to know more about certain tensions in a room. My people skills came from my powers of empathy. Without them I didn't know how people felt or how I could help them.
We stood there for a moment in silence, neither of us knew what to say. ''Are you letting the crew know about your departure?'' Rip asked, breaking the silence. ''I don't think I will.'' I didn't think they would care. I was tolerated by most and apparently hated by one. So what good did it to inform them. ''Are you sure? You might not come back or one of us might not be here when you do.'' Biting my lower lip I thought it over.
''You are a part of this crew and crew supports crew.'' Pressing a button on the control panel, Rip notified the others. ''So you won't leave without saying goodbye.'' One bye one the others walked in. ''Are we about to jump?'' Ray pitched happily, ready for another adventure.
Looking up at Ray, Rip answered. ''Yes, twice, actually.'' On a screen nearby Rip showed us pictures and news paper articles. ''SLASHER STRIKES AGAIN.'' The pictures were of the victims of said slasher. "Our first stop is England," Rip said after a brief pause, indicating that I should continue. "To drop me off, and I'm not sure how long I'll be gone," I finally said. Rip smiled proudly at me. ''And after that we are heading to Harmony Falls, Oregon. According to Captain Baxter's intel Savage makes an appearance in this quaint little hamlet.'' Gideon switched trough the pictures to give us a better image.
