Chapter 1 - "Why Me?"

It was bright. Very bright. So bright Chanyeol could barely see what was around him. Nothing but brightness. and a song, sung by almost an angle. Something that clung to his ears and pulled him closer. 

He turned around to something beautiful. A red sunset on a crystal ocean and someone was standing at the edged of a cliff looking out across the sea. 

The song was louder in Chanyeol's ears now. He realised that the person just a few feet in front of him must be singing it. Entranced by the melody he took a step forward towards the person. The song once again grew louder but this time filled him with sorrow. Chanyeol took another step toward the person and was close enough now to he was crying. A soft stream of tears rain down their face but the tune didn't waver. 

Chanyeol felt an urge to comfort the person to pull them into his arms and tell them everything was going to be ok.  He took one step then another, he was close to them now, so close. He could almost smell a faint whiff of their scent and yet it still seemed sad. 

Wanting nothing more but comfort them, he reached out his hand for their shoulder. He stretched and stretched but they seemed to be moving further away, he took a step trying to reach them and... 

"No" He cried, reaching for nothing but the rubbed off chalkboard at the front of the classroom. He looked around to nothing but his empty classroom. He put his head in his hands and sighed. It was only a dream. A dream that felt so realistic it could have happened, but yet he was alone with nothing but sadness in his heart. 

"Ahh you're awake"  Chanyeol turned his head to see his two best friends walking into the room, Sehun and Kai. 

"You looked like you were having a pretty rough dream too, you kept mumbling to yourself it was weird," said Sehun walking over and holding out a tissue. Chanyeol grabbed it and quickly wiped the fresh tear marks made on his face. 

"Was it the dream again?" Kai asked pulling up a chair to Chanyeol's desk

"Yeh" he replied, " I've not had one for a while I'd thought it had gone but it's back and more vivid than ever." His head sunk back into his hand, rubbing his eyes trying to make the picture of the person crying go away. it filled him with a deep kind of sorrow, one that lasts a lifetime.  

"Why me?" he asked." Why does it have to be me, I just want to live a normal life but it seems God is deciding against it."

"I don't know," said Sehun pulling up a chair and taking out his lunch." maybe you kicked a baby in your past life."

 "I think its more like ten babies by the sound of it" Kai sniggered and quickly dogged as Chanyeol through a book at him.

The bell rang for the end of the day and Chanyeol stretched, reaching for the ceiling. He couldn't concentrate on his lessons at all this afternoon all he could think about was the dream fresh in his mind. By now he had usually forgotten about it and moved on but not today. He packed up his bag and headed for the door 

"um Chanyeol," said a small voice behind him. He turned around to see a girl standing, she was blushing and was shy but was asking it anyway. 

"Um...I wanted to ask you something if that's ok?" he nodded and knew exactly what was coming. he had been in this situation before many a time and had never once said yes. 

"Um.....you see......the thing is," she was blushing even more now." um.......I like you Chanyeol!" she seemed to yell at him. 

"I understand if you don't feel the same way but if you do then I was hoping you could go out with me but if you don't then I understand!" Chanyeol stood there thinking not if he liked her or not, he had never met her before, but which excuse to use on why he didn't like her or couldn't go out with her. 

" well, I understand how you feel an all but ...... I have to much to do right now and if I started dating someone then I think it would do much for me sorry."

"oh........ok" she sounded like she was going to cry and Chanyeol didn't want to see that so he turned around and started walking away. 

" I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU CHANYEOL!" she yelled and ran out the door with her head in her hands.  Chanyeol use to it continued on his way out of the building. 

"Yah, what took you so long?" said Kai, him and Sehun had been waiting for him outside 

"Sorry, another girl say some random stuff about loving me." 

"What excuse did you use this time" replied kai 

"the classic I don't have enough time," said Chanyeol with a grin." works every time" 

Kai sighed "C'mon I want some bubble tea" 

"Yehet" replied Sehun and they all laughed and headed towards the town. 

Still, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't shake the feeling that the dream had given him. they had usually worn off by now but today was different. he shrugged it surly it was nothing that a good nights sleep couldn't solve and some fun with his friends.
