A year and a half later-sophomore year
Mommy no! I don't want to go to kindergarten!" Reece yells at me crossing g her arms and stomping her foot in protest.
"Reece, honey, I have to go to school and so do you. That's life sweetie." I crouch down to meet her eyes level.
"But I miss you when you're away." She lowers her eyes too the ground and pouts.
"I miss you too baby, but we both have to do things we don't want to." I explain to her.
"Roxie!" Vanessa yells. It seems to be the name I've developed over the year and a half.
"What V?"
"All classes are cancelled because of the drought! There's no water running." She yells and I can hear Francis screaming in excitement from the bathroom and Aspen walks in confused.
"What's going on?" She asks.
"Classes and schools are cancelled. No water." I say with a shrug.
"So I don't have to go to Kindergarten?" Reece asks to clarify.
"No you don't have to go." I answer smiling after.
She grins and jumps into my arms. "Can we go to the beach? I really really wanna go."
"Are you guys in?" I ask.
"Obviously, let me text Dee and Kate and see if they want to come to." Francis says.
Dee and Kate are two girls we met at a party last year. We became quick friends when realizing we were just looks each other. They don't live with us mainly because we have no space and they already have an apartment. We're working on moving into a bigger house tho because Francis, Vanessa, Aspen and I want our boyfriends to start living with us along with Dee and Kate.
Yes, I have a new boyfriend. After coming to the realization that me moping about Damien wasn't working out, Aspen set on a quest to find me a new man. His name is Alexander Watson, Alex for short. He's on the football team as the running back. He's literally anything I could want and more. He's sweet and really hot and he cares about me and Caprice. Its a perfect fit. Almost too perfect.
"Well you're in luck princess." I stand up and reach out for Reece's hand. "Let's go to the beach."
She grins and places her small hand in mine and we race up the stairs until we read her room. "Hey mama?"
I search through her door for one of her bathing suits. "Yeah?"
"Do you still miss Damien?" She asks.
I turn around and she's sitting on the window sill swinging her feet back and forth in a steady motion. Her eyes are off in another place outside the window. Her curls falling in a more wave like manner down her back. "Well of course I do."
"I miss him." She says as if she was agreeing with me.
"You were little when he died." I tell her sitting down next to her.
