"Holy fuck, what year is it?" Kuroo rubbed his eyes as he finally woke up from his "nap".
"Still 2018. You slept for two weeks, short considering you did so much" Akaashi said and held out his hand to help Kuroo stand up.
"Two weeks? That's not too long. Oh man, I'm hungry..." Kuroo felt his stomach growl.
"By the way, before you saying anything - just for you made sure to keep an eye on Kenma" Akaashi gave Kuroo a pat on his back before fixing his hair.
"Oh! Kenma! How is he? Is he dead? Alive? Hurt? Who hurt him?" Kuroo suddenly grabbed Akaashi's shoulders and shook him. The other stayed silent for a second before bursting into laughter.
"Kuroo, calm down! Kenma's fine. He's been feeling down for a few days now, but other than that he's good." Akaashi fixed his hair that had fallen on his forehead when laughing and gave Kuroo a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
"Oh.. okay. I wonder why he's feeling down? I should talk to him.. maybe something happened. Oh, by the way how's Bokuto?" Kuroo followed Akaashi who headed towards the cafeteria.
"Ah... It's problematic. He reminds me of my old lover and I'm having a hard time trying to kill him" Akaashi stopped in his tracks and sighed.
"Old lover?" Kuroo raised an eyebrow, he did remember Akaashi saying something about that, but he couldn't recall. Maybe he was drunk at the time.
"Yeah, I told you before. My lover who died protecting me, Bokuto looks almost exactly like him, apart from dyed hair of course. It's... nevermind. Go eat" Akaashi smiled weakly and before Kuroo could say another word he disappeared into another corridor.
Kuroo shrugged it off, after all Akaashi is an expert at dealing with tough situations. Not only that, he's also doing the research Kuroo can't do - to find out why Kenma isn't dying.
Kuroo would work on it himself, but the last time he went to the library, he almost burned it down. So now he had a 200 year ban.
The cafeteria was awfully empty apart from a couple of demons devouring freshly baked muffins. Kuroo took a tray and got himself a whole lot of food, but once he sat down and looked at it - his appetite passed.
He was worried for Kenma.
Why was he, a reaper with a mission to kill, worried about some human? Not to mention a boy. Kuroo buried his face in his hands and closed his eyes, an image of Kenma popped in his head.
Such sad eyes. Corners of his lips never formed a genuine smile. He looked so empty, and still he kept on living. The only smile he'd have on his face was to hide what was truly going on in his head.
Strong determination to live, maybe that's what stopping everything? Still, that doesn't make sense. It doesn't matter how much you want to live, the reaper would still be able to take your life.
Maybe he had some sort of connections to hell, but that's not true as well. Kenma doesn't look like the type of person to lie and he never believed Kuroo is a reaper.
So maybe he's just.. immortal? An angel, maybe?. No, Kuroo would know if that was the case.
"Fuck!" He yelled loudly as he banged his fist on the table. Kuroo was frustrated, to say the least. He wanted Kenma to live, but at the same time he wanted him to disappear from his life so he wouldn't get those feelings again.
Without eating, Kuroo left his tray and decided to pay the little troublemaker a visit. He wondered, what could Kenma be doing at this time. 11:27 PM in the human world.
He found himself near Kenma's home, not surprising. He'd actually be more surprised to not find him at home this late. Kuroo slowly made his way to the front door, but before he could knock he saw a dim light through the window.
He could see Kenma sitting on the couch, his eyes were closed but he was awake. For some reason, he looked even more miserable than before.
Kuroo knocked on the door three times, it wasn't too long till he heard small footsteps approaching the door. With a click of the lock, the door opened.
Kuroo greeted Kenma with a smile, a warm one at that. He was genuinely happy to see the boy, however Kenma...
Kenma greeted Kuroo with teary eyes and a bruised face, a busted lip and dirty clothes. Kuroo couldn't even say anything, Kenma just fell into his arms and let out a small sob.
