Tasha

I pulled my white blazer on and straightened up my beige blouse. Mama is coming and she is making me go to church with her. She heard a lot of about Pastor Marcus and she wanted to check him out. She just don't know, ole rev ain't who he say he is. But I'll play along, just for my mama. I made sure my hair was intact and walked into the living room to wait for her. She felt like we should ride together so she is coming to pick me up. The horn blew outside letting me know she was here. I got my purse and walked out there, locking the door and going to get in the car. "Look at you! Looking like a woman of God! Well that haircut is a no..but other than that. You look good baby!" She said as I got into her Ford Taurus. "I like my hair like this mama so don't start. Where's Alisia?" I asked looking in the back seat. I'm surprised that mama is letting her skip church. "This is her weekend with y'all daddy." Mama said backing out of my driveway and headed to Second street, where the church was located. "We are gonna get us a good word and then come back and I'll cook us a good meal!" Mama said driving and checking her makeup. "Sounds good." I say checking my Facebook. We pull up to the church and park, getting out of the car. "Behave yourself in here LaTasha." Mama said pulling down my skirt. I swiped her hand away and walked ahead. I swear she feels like I'm 5 sometimes. Taking my seat in he back, I watched her walk all the way to the front of the church. Typical Emma Jean. I laughed until I saw Chelsea and her family walk in. She looked at me and smiled a little bit I turned my head. I can't fuck with her anymore. Not after how she did me man, I'm still not over that heartbreak. The praise team started singing and I pulled out my phone to check my messages. Low and behold mr pastor himself wanted to see me tonight. I smiled and put my phone back up. "Today is a special day, because it's Pastor appreciation day and who better to honor our fearless leader than his wife. Give a hand for First Lady Raven Williams." Some lady said making me look up, I was interested in how his wife looked. Damn! He had all of that at home and he was out doing bullshit?! She is fine as well and thick in all the right places. She had a stripper's body and he cheating? See that right there proves that niggas ain't shit.

After the church service, mama walked to the front and started shaking hands and hugging people. I rolled my eyes and walked out and headed for the car. "Hey Tasha?" I heard that voice behind me and sped up. I don't have time for Chelsea to tell me that I'm going to hell for my lifestyle and whatever else she got to say. "Man can you stop? Damn!" She cursed making me turn around to look at her. I acted shocked as I put my hands over my mouth and gasped. "Please. We were friends remember?" "Oh please. We were more than friends so cut the shit." I rolled my eyes and folding my arms across my chest. "Okay okay and you're right. I get it but Tasha I was afraid. Afraid of what might happen to me? Being with a woman is not the Godly way, yet all I can think about is you." She said making me soften my mug and unfold my arms. "Like I keep telling you Chelsea. You have to live for you. Do what makes you happy and not sacrifice your happiness for other people. I'll see you later." I said getting in the car. "Hey Chelsea? Coming over for dinner?" Mama said getting in the car. Chelsea shook her head no and looked at me before walking away. "What's the matter with you two?" She asked me, cranking up the car and driving away. "Nothing. We just at two different parts of life right now." I say looking out of the window. I can't lie, I really love Chelsea but she hurt me and I can't forgive her right now. "That girl probably came to her senses." Mama mumbled making me turn around and look at her. "What is that supposed to mean mama?" I asked. She chuckled and kept driving. "Mama?" "It means that you aren't a good influence! You out here with this hooking and letting all these strangers in your temple. It's not right LaTasha!" She said slapping the steering wheel. "Well it ain't no different than what you did!! You had two kids from a married man! Only difference is I'm getting paid for what I do!!" I yelled making her reach across and slap me. "I will not be disrespected!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. "And it's okay for you to disrespect me? Pull over. I SAID PULL OVER!!" I screamed making her pull to the side of the road. I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out of the car. "What are you doing? Get back in the car." She said rolling down the window. I shut the door and started walking. "LaTasha let's not be childish! Get in the car." Mama said riding slowly beside my head. I pretended that I didn't hear her and kept walking. She finally gave up and drove off leaving me to my tears. I ain't crying because I'm about to acknowledge my wrongs and become a church lady. I'm crying because mamas know how to push those buttons.
