Sitting on my mama's porch, it was a Monday. We were getting ready to go out on the town and do a little shopping. I went down to Oak Springs and stripped last night to release some anger and sadness. It worked, I came out $8k richer. "You ready to go?" Mama asked me, coming into the porch while digging in her purse. "Yes ma. We taking your car or mine?" I asked her thinking she was looking for her keys. "We're taking your lil fancy car, go get your keys." She said making me laugh when a gold 2017 Cadillac Seville pulled in the driveway. I immediately knew who it was, so I got up and went in the house. "I don't wanna see him mama." I called back out to her. "You know, you never told me what was going on." Mama came into the room and sat down on the bed beside me. "He just, he cheated on me mama. He has a child as a result of an affair with one of those young girls from the church." I said shaking my head and looking down. "Oh nawl baby girl that ain't right. I see why you don't wanna talk to him. But you can't hide in here forever, you're gonna have to talk to him at some point. Even if it's just to say you want a divorce." Mama said patting my hand and standing up. "Now lets go." She grabbed my key to the charger and walked out of the room. I guess she is right and I'm going to have to talk to him at some point. And I'm going to tell him that I want a divorce. Walking outside, I see the Cadillac Seville pulling back up. Rolling my eyes, I walk to my car. "Raven! Please!" Marcus jumped out the car and came running over to me getting on his knees. "Baby I haven't been the same without you. Please come home, I promise to do much better. I been praying and asking the Lord for guidance." He said holding on to my leg. "First off Marcus, get off of my leg. You look foolish on your knees like that. And you should have been doing all of that. You're supposed to be a man of God! Yet, you beat and cheat on your wife. Where is that in the Bible? You know I can't have kids, and you went out and made a baby anyway. Does your congregation know about that?" I asked. He stood up and dusted off his pants. "I know Rae I know. I haven't been living like I was supposed to and I'm paying the price for it. I know I have to earn your trust back but believe me when I say I will do whatever it takes. Just come home please. I need your help, I can't do this without you." He said pulling a small box out of his pocket and opening it revealing a diamond ring. "Marry me again? We can do a big wedding like you always wanted! I promise you Rae, you're the best thing to ever happen to me and when I messed that up, my whole world crumbled to the ground." I said nothing as he slid the ring on my finger. I have a soft spot for him and if he needs help than I can do the right thing and help him. "Gone home child." Mama said getting out of the car and going back in the house. "Maxine! Come on girl take me to Sears!" I heard her yelling going back in the house. "This is your last chance Marcus." I say getting into my car. He kissed his fingers and placed them on my window, smiling. "You won't regret this!" He yelled going to get in his car, I waited until he pulled off to follow behind him. I guess I'm going home.
