I sat there as Marcus rocked Malaysia to sleep. "I gotta go see Raven. She pregnant." He said handing me the baby. I nodded. "Don't do nothing stupid while I'm gone." He said taking my cell phone with him. I watched him close the door and ran to my room. I got the government phone out of my dresser and turned it on. "911 what's your emergency?" "Yes I'm being held hostage in my apartment by Marcus Williams." "Whats your address? Where is he now?" "He just left to go talk to his wife but he locked me inside by changing the locks to where it can only be opened from the outside. I'm at 4537 Drovers Lane. Grady Apartments. Apartment 233." "I'm dispatching an officer now ma'am. Has he hurt you?" "Yes ma'am. He beats on me, and he has a gun threatening to kill my daughter." I go in the next room and see her sleeping soundly in her crib. "You have my permission to break the door down." I say grabbing Malaysia's baby bags and placing them by the door. I went back and grabbed mine, and sat them by the door too. I never bothered unpacking and he didn't ask me too. I grabbed Malaysia and sat in the living room. Maybe they won't let his ass back out this time. "911!" I heard the police yell. "Put your hands behind your back! On your knees!" I looked out the window to see Marcus getting on his knees with his hands up. "Shoot the son of a bitch! He is resisting!" Shots fired as Marcus' body jerked before slumping over. I screamed! He was complying! This is my fault! I got him killed, I didn't want him killed! I ran to the bathroom heading for the toilet when I heard the front door open. I'm crying and throwing up at the same time as I saw a lady Officer step into my view. "Are you okay?" She walked towards me as I scooted towards the wall. "I'm not here to hurt you." She said reaching for my hand. "Like y'all hurt him?" I asked in a sarcastic tone. "I don't know why they did that. I just got here. My concern at this moment is you and your daughter. Let me handle them." She said reaching for home. I took her hand and stood up. I grabbed my bags and walked outside to place them in my car. Marcus was still laying in the parking lot. Dead as a doornail. They didn't even have enough respect to cover him with a sheet or something. He is just laying there like a dog. I looked away as I continued putting bags in the trunk. The officer walked down with Malaysia and placed her in her car seat. "Alright I got your statement and I will call you if I need anything else okay? Be careful out there." She said giving me a hug and handing me the mail, that was in the mailbox. I got into the car and drove away, tears falling down my face. He was crazy but he ain't deserve to be shot down like a dog. "Time to go to auntie house." I said to Malaysia who was looking out the window, not saying anything.
Soon as we got there, my aunt helped me get all of my stuff in the house, as I'm telling her what's going on. She can't believe all the shit either. My mom called me crying trying to apologize. I told her that I forgave her. I'm sitting in the car as the events replayed in my head. Staring down at the mail, I saw a letter from that place who did the dna test. Sighing, I opened it.
In the case referring to Malaysia Smalls, Marcus Williams is 99.9 % the father.
I cried as I read the letter over and over again. Now she will never know who her father is. I lit the paper on fire with my lighter and dropped it in the grass, watching it burn. I'm here to start a new life, and forgetting about Marcus is the first thing on my to do list. Never again will I get involved with a married man.
